Joe and Danielson Vs KENTA and Marufuji

Recommended Posts

from the usual source...

"World League Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH and Ring Of Honor are pleased to announce a huge tag team dream match for the March 25th ROH event in Manhattan, NY at Basketball City (Pier 63 @ West 23rd Street).

The bout will see GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji team for the first time in the United States as they take on the ROH dream team of World Champion Bryan Danielson & Samoa Joe. This match doesn't need any hype as four of the best in the world step into the same ring.

For tickets and more info go to ROHwrestling.com, call 215-781-2500 and check Ticketmaster outlets.

You can see KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji in action on ROH's latest DVD release "Final Battle 2005." KENTA battles Low Ki in a bout that Dave Meltzer called a "legit match of the year candidate." Marufuji goes after Bryan Danielson and the ROH World Title in another excellent match. You can now order this event on DVD or VHS for immediate delivery at ROHwrestling.com."

...So off the heels of losing Abyss, Low Ki and MCAT, They have made a huge announcment of bringing in KENTA and Marufuji for a second show. Gabe has promised more big announcments as well. What those will be? who knows.

From what I heard, it was scheduled to be Danielson and Joe vs. KENTA and Low Ki before Ki left.

See, I read it was Ki in Joe's place and Joe was the natural replacement.

Can I add that I'm getting slightly annoyed with Ki, Homicide, Joe and Dragon getting these dream matches? Daniels, Aries and Strong, I believe deserve these spots. Not to say ROH didn't have a choice and I don't blame then for using Joe and Danielson in these spots because they are the stars of ROH and they do deserve it.

Just a personal preference, I'd like to see a littl variety in these things.

What compels me is that this is just the first big announcment ROH is promising, so I'm really interested in what else they have planned.

I'd have prefered Aries/Strong in the spot, but it's too difficult to figure out which team would job. It's a lot easier to sell NOAH on the ROH world champion and TNA's X champ than on the belts formerly held by Tony Mamaluke and Sal Rinuaro

Someone pinning KENTA makes the most sense to me, unless they're planning on using him semi-regularly this year and want to build up to a match with Danielson. I wouldn't have any problem with KENTA pinning Danielson here if Danielson got the win back in a 1-1 title match.

They do appear to have hopes on using KENTA and Marufuji on a few more occasions. I still think Joe will take the loss though.

Has Joe lost any matches in ROH since he won the X-Title? I can't see TNA being too happy about that....

He won the X title on 12/11 and since then, Joe has only worked two ROH dates (Final Battle 05 and Hell Freezes Over)

He lost a 4 Corners match to Jay Lethal but it was Daniels who took the pinfall and at HFO, Joe went over BJ Whitmer.

Joe was likely to job one of the matches against Daniels last weekend, but Im thinking TNA would be fine with it. It should be noted, TNA can't tell ROH what to do with Joe.
