Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 Actually, a lot of it may have to do with the UFC PPV which was that same night. If the replay has a significant drop as well, then Sting may be a big reason why.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 A lot of that 1.1 was down the the UFC audience sticking around that week for the first quarter. With that UFC audience taken away by the PPV, it's logical for iMPACT not to get that UFC boost.

Don't let silly common sense get in the way of those who wish to cast blame on the angle and call for TNA's demise. This does show that TNA is connecting to the UFC fanbase. TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 This does show that TNA is connecting to the UFC fanbase. And that Spike's smart to keep them together on Thursdays, though they probably got the order backwards.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 More ratings info from PWI: The 2/4 edition of TNA Impact on Spike TV did a 0.7 cable rating, with a 1.4 share. That is down from last week's 1.1, which featured Sting. But, they did improve on their lead in, Rocky V, which only did a 0.5 cable rating. Also, the show went up against the UFC PPV, so it could that some of the usual audience wasn't able to watch the show if they bought the PPV. The good news for TNA was that the replay on Monday night also did a 0.7 cable rating, with a 2.1 share, which leads me to believe that some usual Saturday viewers tuned in on Monday. That is a combined rating of a 1.4 for the two airings and could be a good sign for the company when they start airing on Thursday nights in April. For you UFC fans, The Ultimate Fighter that preceded Monday's replay of TNA did a 1.1 cable rating, with a 2.3 share, meaning that TNA held a good chunk of the UFC audience. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 Looks like Spike have found themselves a very workable combo. THAT is exactly what I want to hear. Winning over UFC fans with pro wrestling I'd imagine is god damn difficult. I'm not distressed by this news at all.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 Looks like Spike have found themselves a very workable combo. THAT is exactly what I want to hear. Winning over UFC fans with pro wrestling I'd imagine is god damn difficult. I'm not distressed by this news at all. Neither am I. The Saturday showing had been averaging a .9 and the Monday showing had been averaging a .5, so it looks like those who missed Saturday (possible because of the UFC PPV) went out of their way to catch Monday. I think since being on Spike, TNA's developed a very loyal audience of about 1 million viewers that will find it when it's on. Even when they bounced around the few times, they didn't do badly. But that audience needs to be the starting point. It's almost like the 2.5-3.0 that the WWE knows they'll get every week, no matter how bad the product gets. Because they know that, they get exciting when they get over a 4.0. Obviously TNA's scale is different, but the principle is the same. They're establishing the base, now with the better slot, they can hopefully grow it. Sting showed that there are ways to do that (he can basically be credited for .2 on each show last week), so keeping him and maybe adding that 2nd "draw" that they've been rumored to be talking too will help....and hopefully the move to primetime will be accompanied by an ad blitz, which would help too. But I'd say Spike got exactly the news it wanted this weekend...that TNA and UFC's audience have a good crossover. I wouldn't expect to see them separated on the schedule for awhile. TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 Meltz added this about the ratings this week: TNA Impact replay on Monday night did a 0.7, its second biggest ever, so it's now become obvious to everyone that it was the UFC PPV that took the bite out of the Saturday number. Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 9, 2006 Do y'all think that the UFC audience whom follows TNA iMPACT! makes up a .4 rating?
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 Do y'all think that the UFC audience whom follows TNA iMPACT! makes up a .4 rating? It's purely speculation, but I'd guess that .2 of that difference is the UFC fans (because those are the ones who showed up on Monday) and .2 are the Sting fans (because both the original and the replay this week were down .2 with no promise of Sting).
