Guest buffybeast Posted May 31, 2002 Report Posted May 31, 2002 I was shocked that they picked two women, too. But all the Linda hating needs to stop. Linda is ugly, Linda is not as good as Jackie, blah blah. The fact remains that no one on this board can say for sure whether Jackie was better than Linda in the ring because we only saw 1/10th of their training on television. So please stop pretending to know everything. Also, just because Linda is not white with blonde hair and big fake tits doesn't mean she's ugly or not the least bit attractive. Linda's face is average but I think her body is beautiful. Jackie's face isn't all that, either. And her body is just as nice as Linda's, sans implants. I suspect the company feels that they need more talented women in the company. From what I've heard the reason that we have not seen much of Nidia is because she was terrible in the ring and the company was not high on her looks. If Jackie and Linda are as good in the ring as they have shown us on TE, then they will probably be featured on WWF television more. On the losers, well let's be honest here: right now, what does the company need more, talented women or talented men? My guess is the former.
Guest Ripper Posted May 31, 2002 Report Posted May 31, 2002 Come on, lay off Kenny. He said that this wasn't the end of him and that there were other ways in...he did say that he was going to continue. He said he wished he could say it was only about the best performer/athlete, but it wasn't...and he was right. It was obvious that he was the best performer out of the bunch (hell all the trainers could say about the others was how great thier effort was, they talked about how good Kenny was in the ring and how much of a natural he was.)Did you hear the heat they were getting for not picking Kenny. When they were about to pick the second person, all you could hear was people predicting Kenny(in between screaming stacy for no reason). I do agree that they needed the women more than the men, but come on, what was the point of the guys being there at all. It obviously didn't come down to who performed better. Yeah, I know I only saw 1/10 of what went on, but from the comments of the other competors and trainers, it was obvious that Kenny was the better of them all. And I have to agree with buffybeast here. Jackie kinda looks like a man in drag in her face... If not for the body parts that were purchased, noone would be saying she is hot. I like Lindas body better(well, last night, she looked a little too huge for my liking...I mean her arms were RIPPED) and I think she has a alright face. And lets not act like Jake took it well. They were both shocked. They apparently weren't told it could be 2 women(or just forgot)
Guest Madmartigan21 Posted May 31, 2002 Report Posted May 31, 2002 From what I've heard the reason that we have not seen much of Nidia is because she was terrible in the ring and the company was not high on her looks. If Jackie and Linda are as good in the ring as they have shown us on TE, then they will probably be featured on WWF television more. Where in the hell did you hear that stuff about Nidia? If the WWE isn't very high on her looks, then why did she say last night that she just did her first Divas shoot? And how bad could she be in the ring? They've put Stacy and Torrie in multiple matches already for crying out loud. And it's not like any of the WWE women are THAT good in the ring. This includes Jazz, Molly, Ivory, Lita, and the newly improved Trish. All I ever ask from a women's match is that they don't embarrass themselves. Anything beyond that is gravy. With a real shortage of heels in the Women's division right now, I'd call Nidia up from OVW. Make her Eddie's new Mamacita. I believe she's hispanic, so it fits very well.
Guest buffybeast Posted May 31, 2002 Report Posted May 31, 2002 "Where in the hell did you hear that stuff about Nidia?" Mad, I can't quote you an exact source, unfortunately. But I do remember reading posts on various sites around December that Nidia had not been called up due to her weight at the time and the fact that some believed her to be very sloppy. This is the alleged reason why she has not had her promised one tv match or any significant tv time.
Guest papacita Posted May 31, 2002 Report Posted May 31, 2002 Yeah, I'll agree that Linda isn't ugly at all. She's got the cuter face out of the two (those cheekbones) and a cute waistline. I prefer Jackie simply because I like my women a little thicker than Linda, but to say she's ugly is crazy.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted May 31, 2002 Report Posted May 31, 2002 Besides, the WWF is in need of more female athletes, they don't need another Maven. But I guess they're in desperate need of two more Nidia's, eh? There's no way that Kenny wasn't the most deserving of the group.
Guest Posted May 31, 2002 Report Posted May 31, 2002 My question is, why didnt they make it clear that it wasn't gonna be a guy and a girl champion like TE1? Or did they? Regardless, I just assumed Jake and Linda were gonna win. But when I heard (never seen the show yet, because I live in Canada) I was VERY surprised. Not let down, just surprised.
Guest Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 Did anyone catch the mistakes from the finale last night? The fact that when they were annoucing who the next champion would be the graphic said Jake, Jackie, and Kenny but on Jake's graphic they showed Nidia? Lol. Was Stacy questioning the card real?
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 I figured that Linda and Jackie were going to win. Jackie wasn't great looking, but she looked decent at certain times. They loved Linda, that was obvious. I think I remember hearing at one point or another that there wouldn't neccesarily be one winner of each sex. I remember thinking,"That's good because now they don't have to put themselves in a corner at the end of the show." Last year, I think they should have had two men winners, so that's why they probably made that stipulation. Nidia was extremely fortunate to in the contract last year. I think she looks kind of rattish and she's not a very good in the ring. She looks like a fan, not a wrestler. I think giving out all of the extra contracts makes the show look pointless. If you lose, you can still get the same contract as the winner, so why bother with all of the smoke and mirrors? I was pissed off when I heard that Matt got a contract because it appeared as if he was "Jim Ross's boy." Jim Ross liked him during the auditions so he gets in. After he's eliminated, he gets a damn contract. WTF?
Guest notJames Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 My question is, why didnt they make it clear that it wasn't gonna be a guy and a girl champion like TE1? Or did they? I'm 95% positive that the WWF announced at the beginning of the series that this year's TE Champs would not necessarily be one man and one woman. It was either on the actual first show or in a press release.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 It was said in the first episode (not the casting special). Linda and Jessie were talking about it. Linda and Jessie are talking and their conversation reminds me that I’ve heard that the only guidelines for the end is that there will be TWO winners. Could be two men, could be two women, or one of each. Which is kind of a nice ‘out’ for them if they don’t want to give it to a woman (although I still say Linda takes it).
Guest art_vandelay Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 Besides, the WWF is in need of more female athletes, they don't need another Maven. But I guess they're in desperate need of two more Nidia's, eh? There's no way that Kenny wasn't the most deserving of the group. I really shouldn't be one to judge, but from what I've seen on the show, Linda and Jackie are way ahead of where Nidia was at the end of TE1, both in the looks and ability department... mainly looks, and that's basically 80% of what they need.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 "I think the fact that Kenny's drunken near fight and party attitude along with Jakes lack of talent did them in though. " Yeah, it'd be horrible if Kenny started a fight on some flight home from a WWE overseas tour. Imagine what that would do to backstage morale.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 I can quote a source on Nidia... reports from Rajah say that she has loked very good in the ring...and that she has been putting Victoria (who has been down there much longer) to shame in the ring. The reason she hasn't been called up is because the WWE doesn't need a big womens division when the only angle that they run is champion vs. challenger. Kenny looked good in the ring...but at the end of the day he just looked like an ordinary guy. Jake came on in the promo department in the latter stages of the show...and his look is undeniably more marketable. IMO they didn't pick a man because the locker room probably doesn't want too many Mavens runing around.
Guest papacita Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 The reason she hasn't been called up is because the WWE doesn't need a big womens division when the only angle that they run is champion vs. challenger. Well sir...I must say that's a pretty dumb reason. Ya see...even in Champion Vs. Challenger type divisions, it helps to have a...as the French say..."VARIETY" of challengers in order to keep the division fresh. I mean...you can only watch Trish Vs. Jazz or Trish Vs. Molly so many times before the division becomes...as they say in Spain..."STALE". Now if the Woman is tearing up the ring...CALL HER UP!!! It can only serve to improve the...as they say in Zimbabwe..."QUALITY" of the division. Oh, and just for the record, Papacita HAS NOT been smoking...as they say in Columbia..."CRACK!" That is all...
Guest Anorak Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 There's too many women in the WWE already and adding yet more is really beginning to verge on overkill. The women's division is worthless, the standard of wrestling isn't good enough to care about and the fans simply don't care. I'm not being sexist about this but there really shouldn't be that many women involved in a wrestling organization, certainly not the ridiculous numbers the WWE currently has under contract anyway. I know the the product is about 'entertainment' more than actual wrestling but the number of females on the rosters just adds to the bad soap opera element overiding things. Awarding contracts to non attractive or even plainly average looking women is a joke for a start, there's no chance of them ever getting over or amounting to anything and the WWE is just kidding those individuals if they think otherwise. There's no strong or diverse female characters in the WWE to make the fans possibly appreciate them on any level that's not T&A, everything they do revolves around the angle of sex that is sold back via 'Diva Merchandise'. In America at least 95% of women have no place on a wrestling show over all round superior male athletes who in the long run would provide more worthwhile entertainment. The WWE had it right when there was just Liz & Sherri or Sable & Sunny around, they stood out more and had twice the impact and popularity of any of today's women. For the average female's true worth or purpose to the WWE they might as well go the cheap route and employ some Nitro Girls type group and a maximum of 2-3 higher profile valets. It would save us having to endure the phony 'wrestling' diatribe shoved down our throats as justification for their ridiculously swelling numbers. Jim Cornette was so right about this never ending trend of undeserving female flesh taking up space on a 'wrestling' show. Instead of wrestling fans watching a wrestling show to watch wrestlers wrestle the future looks like its going to be watching women 'try' to wrestle, try to act, catfight and participate in swimsuit competitions. I can hardly fucking wait.
Guest Ripper Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 Dude, Molly, Jackie, Ivory, and Jazz are all trained wresleter that have paid just as many or more dues that most of the men wrestlers. Trish is a better bumper and sells better than a lot of the men on the roster(which is what he needs to have good matches against the likes of Jazz and others) The only other womens werestler under contract was Lita and that Victoria girl in OVW. That is 6 women wrestlers. The rest of them are just there for T&A. if Jackie and Linda go and train for a while and get some skill, it will help the division leaps and bounds.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted June 1, 2002 Report Posted June 1, 2002 I have no problem adding women wrestlers, but I don't think they should sign women valets because they aren't needed. The bottom line is, two contracts had to be handed out. It's not a matter of whether or not they needed two more people, they had to give out two contracts because that was the point of the show. I wasn't really impressed by Jake. His physique is nothing terribly unique, and I am willing to bet it would diminish if he were to join the WWF. You can make the argument that people don't need to be good wrestlers to be stars, but I don't think you want to sign someone who is going to come in and hurt people left and right. They felt that Linda and Jackie could be bigger stars than Kenny or Jake and I agree. Kenny is a jobber. Jake doesn't strike me as a performer. Hogan could sell out all of those arenas because he was a performer. Ric Flair is a good wrestler, but he is a performer as well. Jake doesn't strike me as a performer.
