Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Ah, yes, just my luck, I don't have school on Thursday, Friday, and Monday and the Canada v Czech Republic game is on Tuesday. Just great. Anyways, I think Canada wins the gold.

Annabelle 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 canada will NOT win. ill be surprised if they land in the medal department at all. the only way they'll actually succeed is if their are injuries & players liek eric staal are actually able to play. i think the russians will surprise. they'll at least be the most exciting. Guest Report post Posted February 13, 2006 The Russians are my favorite team in this tournament. Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Ovechkin= greatness. Also, one of the lines for Canada against Italy is Gagne-Thornton-Nash. Ouch. The more I think about it, the more I think the US will take Bronze and that Canada will be left out in the cold. Canada needs Staal.
Guest CurryMan Report post Posted February 14, 2006 Unfortunatly I can´t see Sweden take any medel or even make it to the semi-finals. There is a big lack of defenceman and Kenny Jonsson former New York Islanders now playing in the second division half-amateur has made a comeback in the olympic team. Peter Forsberg is going to make some tests but it said in the newspapers here that he is planned to stay away from the two first games then begin to play. My hope is that Henrik Lundqvist that has been said to have a brilliant season in NY Rangers (swedish newspapers has a tendons to give to much credit when nothing special has happend) will totally shut down the goal and with this let the Swedish team go deep in the tournament. But my final guess is that the team will chocke and go out in the quarterfinals. There is also alot of talk here that they should have gone with Michael Nylander from the NY Rangers instead of Peter Forsberg, does anyone know how his season has been so far? Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 I've been very impressed with the Italian team thus far. Canada just getting wayyyyy to cute in this game, I really hope Italy gives us a scare so we can get into gear for the Czechs.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 To the people that think that Canada won't finish in the medals: what are you smoking, and where can I get some? As much as I'd love to see the Americans win a medal, I'd be beyond shocked to see them win even the bronze, let alone gold or silver. It's just not a good time for the US hockey program. The fact that Hal Fucking Gill is deemed worthy of being on the taxi squad shows how shallow the talent pool is.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 Bob Cole and Harry Neale have stopped getting excited over any goals for Canada. The last goal was announced very matter-of-factly. 4-1 Canada in the 2nd. EDIT: But when Italy scored, Cole actually sounded excited. 6-2 now.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted February 15, 2006 I just want some European team to win! Canada blows, and the US blows for not taking Ryan Miller! Udachi Russia!

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 Rebutal on your Russian team. Whats behind them? Sure you have that top line, but the team has no defence to compete with the Czechs and Canada, and the goaltending is questionable. If players like Kovalev, Malkalin start stepping up, then they will become a force, but to me the Russians aren't going to go to the gold medal game. Czech does have the depth, and seem to be balance, but like Canada the defencive core is not the greatest. (No one has a standout defence in this tourney). And if you make a team with no grinders you are not going to win. Doan, Smyth and Draper are great for that and Bertuzzi. Canada wants to repeat for success, not picking all-star calibar players with no PK players. Though I will question McCabe till the end of this tournament (Boyle, Phaneuf should replace him). Its going to be hard to get pass Brodeur and Luongo.
Guest CurryMan Report post Posted February 15, 2006 Well Mattias Norstrom is off the swedish team and is replaced by Ronnie Sundin from the swedish champions Frolunda. The weak swedish defence looks weaker for every minute, I´m still hoping that Lundqvist will perform over his abilitys and make this a great Olympics. Peter Forsberg will decide on friday if he will stay in Turin or if he is going to head back to Philadelphia, the papers here in Sweden says that there is 50/50 chans. This probebly means that he won´t play and hopefully they will bring in Michael Nylander.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 The aforementioned Czechs don't look great against Germany. It's 2-1 late in the third for them, but Germany h as been giving them a good run all game. These games are ideal fto watch on my lunch break. Canada won't even medal? Come on. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 FuckfuckfuckfucknononononohowcouldtheylethimgototheOlympicsMucklershouldhogtiehi mandbringhimbacktoOttawaNOWfuckfuckfuck... Goaltender Dominik Hasek suffered a leg injury in the game between the Czech Republic and Germany Wednesday at the Olympics. Hasek, one of the NHL's top goaltenders for years, grimaced in pain as he spread his legs to stop a shot during a German power play about six minutes into the game. He didn't face another shot for the next few minutes, but left the ice when play stopped 9:25 into the period. After consulting briefly on the bench with the Czech coaches, Hasek was taken to a locker-room to be examined by physicians. He returned to the bench area late in the period, a towel draped around his neck. Hasek, the hero of the 1998 Olympics, has been troubled by groin injuries in recent years but has played 43 games this season. He was replaced by Nashville Predators goaltender Tomas Vokoun, who surrendered the first goal of the game to Tino Boos late in the first period. It has not been a memorable start to the Winter Games for Hasek. The Ottawa Senators netminder arrived in Italy Monday to find that his equipment had been lost by the airline en route to the Games. He was forced to borrow some equipment from former Buffalo Sabres goaltender coach Jim Corsi, who is working with the Italian national team. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 I'm torn. I want to see Hasek rape people on shootouts like he did in 98. But this is bad for Ottawa. TSN not showing the first period of Germany v. Czech pissed me off.

Guest Report post Posted February 15, 2006 Irbe was awesome, as I stayed home and watched today. Outside of that 5 minute stretch in the 2nd, the US dominated. The Czechs should still win the gold without Hasek, Vokoun's pretty good himself. Canada didn't look too good in the 1st against Italy, but they pulled it together. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 King, did you even watch the Canada/Italy game? Canada played too cute at times, and caught themselves playing sloppy. I'll congrats to that Italian team because they played for their reputation out there, and not just getting blown out of the water against Canada. The Czechs didn't looks so good until the second period.
Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Russians and USA losing early? Wow, the really want to face us early and get their ass kicked huh? Canada and Checks Gold and Silver. The rest are a distant third.

Due to acid reflex, which is a son of a bitch; yes, I watched the 1st period and fell back asleep once it got to 3-1. Muzzatti looked good, Canada looked jetlagged just as the US did. Canada looked really good after the 1st and the Czechs looked like shit early too. I think Irbe earned a spot on an NHL team with his play today, without his performance the US hangs 10 on Latvia. Also, the Slovaks looked really dangerous today. No country should be looking forward to playing them.
