Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Mark fuckin Streit scored the PP goal to give the 3-2 edge, and also the Swiss team scored a shorthanded goal too.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 With the current state of American hockey, they USOC would have been smart to take a team of amateurs or college players and not even bothered with the NHL'ers. The college kids would have no chance of winning a medal ... but it's not like the NHL'ers that are there have a real good chance, either. Give the kids a) the chance to live a dream ... and ... b) the opportunity to gain some int'l experience.
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 the russians are pounding the swedes. looks like all of these upsets will even themselves out in the end.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 The Fins destroy another second tier team. For what it's worth they pounded Italy worse than Canada did. Finland's building confidence and wouldn't shock me if they went undefeated in the Round Robin.
Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Fins goaltending will lead tehm to lose to to one of if not both Canada and Czecks
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Ya. Even though the Czechs lost to the Swiss, David Aebischer is not some no body. Though it really questions how strong is this Swiss team, or how bad is the Czechs defence is.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Anyone know if any Canadian radio stations will be carrying any of the Olympic games? I'll be listening to the Czech game on the radio, if at all possible.
Guest Report post Posted February 16, 2006 The Americans looked good today in a boring game, but Tkachuk has got to find a way to get the puck past the goalie. He should have had a hat trick at the very least.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 With the current state of American hockey, they USOC would have been smart to take a team of amateurs or college players and not even bothered with the NHL'ers. The college kids would have no chance of winning a medal ... but it's not like the NHL'ers that are there have a real good chance, either. Give the kids a) the chance to live a dream ... and ... b) the opportunity to gain some int'l experience. They at least could have included some younger NHL players. Guys like Parise, Martin, Ballard, and Miller come to mind.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted February 17, 2006 Miller is younger, and infinitely better than all the scrub goalies the US have now. Now hopefully the US loses by a lot to SWE, RUS and SVK... and Latvia can bullshit another tie against someone!
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 DiPietro is ten months younger than Miller. He just hasn't lived up to expectations.
Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted February 17, 2006 Since CBC has the right to the games that they do not let any radio broadcast any part of the olympics Since TSN/Net got them for 2010, I am positive te eFan Radio Network or Corus Radio will buy the rights to air them for then. Westowood 1 will do the same in the States. Hell, I bet Westwood 1 is doing these games, but CBC will block any radio station from carrying any game in Canada. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 Just got Pro-Line for tomorrow: 3.5-1 odds for the Slovaks tomorrow. 1.5-1 for the States. The fuck? Ah well, easy money.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Wow... Canada trailing to the Swiss 1-0 after one, but we are badly out playing them. Alot of questionable calls going our way though.
mike546 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Wow, what a fucking glove save by Gerber.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 I was SURE that was in, and on the replay, I thought they would over rule it, but even still, Canada is playing very poorly right now, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is that is wrong. To be fair to both teams, the officiating has been very poor, for both sides. Edit: Ron McLean is really pissing me off with this "this game doesn't matter" talk. This game DOES matter, because Canada now plays Finland and the Czech's, games we now have no room for error.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 It's official, Switzerland beats us, 2-0. I thought the officiating was flat our horrific, for both sides, but that's not excuse, Canada had numerous chances to win. But hey, good for the Swiss. They deserved it, and good for them. Now Canada can't fuck up, which is a tall order considering we are playing the Fins tomorrow and the Czech's Tuesday.
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 this swiss loss magnifies all of canada's weaknesses. too old. not adaptable. poor coaching. no discipline. canada won't be able to bully their way through this tournament like they have over the past few years, both at the jr. & professional level. they had a lot of shots at the net, but not too many quality opportunities. why was sakic playing so much? why was heatley playing so little? bouwmeester was their best defenseman. rick nash was their best offensive player. the best chances were when nash, throton, & bertuzzi played. too bad quinn didn't realise to play them a lot until the last 5 minutes. why did they pick doan & smyth? (i know the answer). but their spots could've been given to staal & spezza. speed prevails on this big surface. thats why russia or slovakia will win. the swedes will lose out because they stuck with the old guard, and so will canada. guys like bergeron, staal, phaneuf, cammaleri, ect. should've been considered along with thorton, nash, heatley, ect. sakic has no place in this tournament. Guest Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Ok, now let's not think the Latvia game was funny. I knew this Swiss team would upset someone, just not the Canadians.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 I would love for you Canadians to lose out on the gold medal in the men's tourney just because you guys actually cared that the US women's team lost a match that no one outside of their family was interested in

Guest Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Alexander Frolov possibly tore a shoulder ligament against the Kazakhs. FUCK DAMMIT SHIT. I think people believe in Gerber as a capable goalie now.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Why hasn't Montreal played Marc Streit much more often now. That game showed he's going to be a great leader on the ice for the PP and the PK. To comment on the game. This a reason why Quinn should not coach for Canada. He has no idea of putting lines together, and to motivate his team. Someone should mention that the Maple Leaf is RED not BLUE
Guest Report post Posted February 18, 2006 NBC's coverage for the West Coast is shit. I don't want to watch women's cross country skiing, I want to watch the fucking hockey game.

DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Oh shit, oh shit, fuck you Ruutu. Please god let Jagr be fine. It's a shame the Rangers don't play the Canucks again this year. That would be fun. Although, I doubt Jagr would be as injured if he wasn't wearing one of those stupid fucking Gretzky lids.
