Czech Republic MP3 Player Crisis 2006

Recommended Posts

iPods -- DON'T RUN WITH THEM. Don't sweat on them, don't spill on them, don't even THINK about dropping them. The big ones have hard drives, and the flash versions are even worse.

But if you can take care of them, not jar them around, maybe get a neoprene case for them...you should be good. But it might just up and die, so be warned.

You act like I did that. Go yell at Agent. He's a creampuff, honest.

Excuse me. If you were just pointing out that they were talking about me in that thread, than thank you

My friend dropped his iPod outside my home (well, a little down the street) on a gravely road during a drunken escapade, and we found it the next day, after a rainfall, still in working order.

While we're on the subject, is there such a thing as an mp3 player with decent storage capacity that doesn't cost a few hundred dollars?

Depends on your definition of decent storage

One time a guy fell out of a plane and lived; doesn't make it a good idea. I fix the things for a living, and the hard drives are touchy.

iPod Nano's are cheap I believe. Maybe like 65 bucks. I think they're only 512mb though.

You're thinking of the Shuffle. We don't fix them, and so I don't know a lot about them. But 512MB is barely "decent," and it doesn't have a display, either.

Nanos run a couple hundred yet.

Ahhh, yes. That is the Shuffle.

I know I've seen them for 65 bucks at WalMart. 512mb could be enough...it depends what you want to do with it. Hook it up in your car? Not enough. Go to the gym? It's satisfactory.
