Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 As a general rule of thumb, I loathe Canadian television. Sure, there are a few exceptions, Hockey Night In Canada and Trailer Park Boys being the only two. I don't know why, usually because most Canadian television centres around a drab small-town with whacky characters, one or more of whom is probably hiding a dark secret. Either that or it's chock-full of stereotypes about our people. I'm lucky enough to know somebody who's done some writing for the CBC and he shares my views on why TV in this country sucks. I can only hope that he's been lucky enough to see Terminal City. This is the type of shows that make me want to geek-out and use retarded buzz-words like "emotional juggernaut" and "a revelation". Probably because this show is exactly that. It manages to have great writing, high production values and interesting and fresh directing, all the while still being very obviously Canadian. Sorry, Lost. You were pretty original until this came along. The show centres around a woman named Katie Sampson who, after discovering a lump in her breast is diagnosed with end-stage breast cancer. At her hospital there is a failing reality show called Post-Op and the host accidentally runs into Katie during a taping. She jokes about her cancer, makes fun of the host and finishes it all off by flashing a tit on television. The producers are immeditaly intriuged and determined to re-format the show around Katie, no matter what the cost. After much coercing, she takes the job. What follows over the next ten episodes is an exploration into the life of Katie and her family and how they're affected by her illness and the suddden celebrity status Katie has. This show has been called by more then a few critics as "A Canadian answer to Six Feet Under". Absolute bullshit. This show kills SFU in every possible way. More interesting and REAL characters, better dark humour and a more intriguing premise. I'm not sure if it's available yet in the States but any and all Canucks are encouraged to check it out if you've got Rogers Digital. It's currently bookmarked On Demand but it may not stay that way forever. Give the first episode a shot, you shant regret it.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 Sounds lame. Only because I hate shows about reality shows. I call bullshit. What TV dramas mocking reality shows and studying our society's obsession with celebrity culture can you name? I can only think of one and that's The Comeback on HBO w/ Lisa Kudrow. Barron- It's on Rogers On Demand.
