Red Baron 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 I'm bitter that Montreal gave away Hossa, Balej and Ward to the Rangers.
mike546 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 Ward has REALLY been great. He kills penalies, plays smart two way hockey and un like the other penalty killers can actually score. I heard he was a terrible skater in Montreal but not at all in NY as he skates his ass off and has decent speed.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 compaired to say like Ryder, Koivu, Zednik, Perrault, Petrov, then yes, but damn was he awesome for Montreal.
the max 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 So let the only guy that seems to give a fuck that the Bruins are playing like absolute fucking dogshit leave? Pull your head out of your ass. I'd take Boynton on my team next year over Leetch, Gill and Tanabe without a single hesitation. Boynton's a passionate player and gets in his own way sometimes, which can admittedly be a drawback, but to compare letting him leave as a UFA or trading away the future of the franchise is just idiotic and not funny in the least. CG, I have to agree with max on this ... yeah, Boynton's penalties hurt them last night, but our pal Hal spends more time in the box (at more crucial, costly times) than Boynton does. Boynton's passion & energy helps the B's a lot more frequently than it hurts them. And at least he gives a shit. Boynton should be the next captain of the B's. Period. Bergeron is too young, Gill is too inept, and other than those two, there's no one that makes sense to wear the C next year. (I'd have said Axelsson, but I don't think he'll be wearing the spoked B at all ... and I also think that it's unlikely that Sinden would allow a European to be the captain). In retrospect, maybe I did overstep the line, and some of your points were valid, but tell me you didn't curse like a sailor when the Leafs scored two pp goals within 40 seconds last night? Furthermore, I think it's absolutely ridiculous for you to tell me to pull my head from my ass with the frequency of posts Czech and Leena contribute to this thread. I cursed because the PK blew a two-goal lead in :20. Was what Boynton did stupid? Yes, but I give him credit, he's one of the only players who actually seem to care about this team. Alleged leaders Tom Fitzgerald and Hal Gill quit on this team months ago along with numerous others. Sully can't motivate the team to save his life, so Boynton, Stuart, Sturm, Bergeron and Boyes are essentially motivating themselves and trying to get an attitude of "I care, you should too" to the rest of the journeymen and AHL-lifers that are on this team. As for Czech and Leena, both are on my ignore list and I don't read any of their posts, so I can't help you there. I told you to pull your head out of your ass because you suggested that the 21 year old franchise player being traded is the same thing as losing a good, not great defenseman that fans of the team have taken a liking to, and that statement was asinine. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 So, I'm going to the B's/Sens game tonight. This is, coincidentally, the third Sens game I've gone to this year. I'm more looking forward to the fans reactions to certain players (Boynton, Gill, Reasoner & Czerkawski) than the game itself. I'll be pretty pissed if the fans boo or rip into Boynton ... the media around here is really pinning that loss to TO on him, ignoring the fact that the B's would have been killing a 5-on-3 even if Boynton doesn't tear into the official after my pal Hal's penalty. And ignoring that he's one of the few guys that still acts like he cares.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 It depends on how much of an ass-rape that Ottawa will do against the B's. Thats if they show up again.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 If the games since the Olympic break are any indication, it will be quite an ass-raping. I can't imagine Ottawa wants the stigma of losing four straight to the B's, either.
the max 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 niskie, let me know what the xm handout is all about tonight please. Also, try to get there early to get your FREE GREEN BRUINS HAT! I'm guessing Ottawa houses them tonight, by at least three. Thomas has crashed back to earth and Raycroft is still inconsistant. Plus, this stretch of games is going to be pretty rough with no defense to speak of and a middling goaltending situation going on. Ottawa tonight, Carolina saturday afternoon, the Rags on monday night and the Thrashers on tuesday should be a real hoot.

CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 Couple thoughts: -I know this sounds surprising, but the team I'd fear most in the first round right now is Nashville. A young team, but a lot of big game experience in the playoffs, World Cup and Olympics. -For all the talk of the Leafs needing to make the playoffs to keep the Canadian Six dream alive, Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton aren't all that safe either. -The four teams I just mentioned, fun fact, were the four Canadian teams in Blades of Steel. -It just read on the Scoreticker that the Blues, yes, the Blues, have killed 21 straight penalties. Even with the Blues stat in mind, most of tonight's 10 games should be fairly cut and dry for picking a winner, save Dallas-LA and the battle of Alberta. mike546 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 Rangers up by one after the 1st but their still playing like shit allowing 19 shots to the Capitals. They'd be down 4-2 without Henrik in net, HE IS AMAZING. edit: Wow does Oszlinch suck ass on defense. edit2: What has happened to this team!?! Its like this whole season was a dream and I just woke up. My god I don't even WANT to make the playoffs with this team playing so shitty.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE, THIS IS POST NUMBER 10,000: Fuck, I hate shootouts. The Sens haven't won one in forever.
the max 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 Ironically, the first shootout win for the Bruins comes after they blow a two-goal lead in the third period on two horrifically blown assignments and having almost four minutes of powerplay time in a 4-on-3 format to close out the OT but not getting a decent shot on Emery. I was wrong about Thomas in an earlier post as well, NESN showed Thomas' stats in the last four games that he'd played prior tonight and they were pretty good stats...just an underachieving team in front of him playing like dogshit. This is their first win in seven games and they got it from Tim Thomas refusing to lose again.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 Habs lose. Convincingly. Devils win. Thrashers win. To a lesser extent, Bruins win. For the first time in seven weeks, I'm a little worried.

Ottawa tonight, Carolina saturday afternoon, the Rags on monday night and the Thrashers on tuesday should be a real hoot. You'll be happy to know, max, that I made it in in time to get my ~free~ green Bruins hat. The XM giveaway was just a "enter this code and get a free month" (maybe longer than a month, not quite sure ... didn't grab the little voucher thing). From what it seemed like, though, is that one needed to have XM to really utilize the giveaway, thus rendering the giveaway kind of useless. I'm happy to report that the fans have indeed turned on Our Pal Hal (tm pending). He gets heckled non-stop, and not just by the drunks & diehards ... even casual fans were reminding him of how much he sucks. Surprisingly, the loudest boos during the player announcements went to Andrew Raycroft. (Gill was 2nd, Boynton a distant 3rd) The fact that Czerkawski was used in the shootout ahead of Boyes, Sturm, or Murray got a lot of murmers. The highlight of the night was a flock of fans wearing shirts that said "Worst Management in Sports ...... It's called Bruins". On the back it said, "Special thanks to Jacobs, Sinden & O'Connell". The fans popped for Thomas' saves in the shootout but for the most part, apathy reigned supreme in the quote-Garden-unquote. Fuck, I hate shootouts. Chris, even after seeing the B's win one (finally) I couldn't agree more.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Anyone catch the Tampa/Phili game last night?? Some good ol' fashion hockey right there.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Bruins with a big win today over the 'Canes. While a visit to the postseason is a wicked, wicked longshot, I'd be pleased to see them play spoilers and beat some of the teams that ARE going to the playoffs. Pitiful show of fandom, though, when Boyes scored his hat trick. I'd say that the total number of hats thrown onto the ice could have been counted on two hands (potentially one, they didn't show more than 4 or 5 being swept up) ... and then some ass threw a tin of Skoal on the ice. Way to go, B's fans.
mike546 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Is Leetch injured again? If he isn't it's his first game back at the Garden on Monday.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Nope, Leetch is healthy ... overpaid and unproductive, but healthy. Think he'll get a good reception at MSG, Mike?
mike546 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Oh of course. Messier killed the Rangers for five years and hes a god to NY hockey fans. He'll get a terrific reaction.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I can't believe CBC doesn't even have ONE station carrying the Ottawa/Buffalo battle for first place in the Northeast. Everywhere I turn, it's Leafs/Rangers. I'm listening to the game instead...if not for Ryan Miller, it could be about 5 or 6 to nothing for the Sens. As it is, it's 2-0. Shots on goal in the first were 22-5 Sens.
Guest NYankees Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Jagr with 1 goal and 3 assists to give him 100 points for the season.
mike546 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 You know, I obviously love Prucha because he's scored 27 goals on the year. But I love him even more for the fact that hes basically a 170 pounder playing like Keith Tkachuk. He goes around hitting (and he sent Aki Berg flying tonight) people a whole lot bigger than him, and even though he gets hit he keeps coming back for more and more.
