Richard Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Well this isn't exactly the grand finale I was hoping to see. edit: I guess I posted too soon.
Guest Vitamin X Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 HOMERUN!!!!! Cuba makin' the comeback now, down by 1 in the 8th!! 6-5, Japan.
Guest Vitamin X Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Damn. Fuckin Japs. 9-5 at the top of the 9th, this one's pretty much over. The awful pitching in the first inning where Cuba went down 4-1 really dug them into a hole they were never able to climb out of. Considering they didn't have their best pitchers, using them to beat the Dominicans in the last round, Cuba making it to the championship game against all these real major league players from around the world is still extremely impressive and I'm proud of the way they stayed in fighting against all the odds, especially when you consider the extremely tough pool they came out of. An admirable, gritty effort, and a solid, smooth (probable) win for Japan. Congrats to them.
jwpeer Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Any Cuban players defect? Seriously, i want to add gourriel to my fantasy team. I have a spot waiting for him.
Guest Vitamin X Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Any Cuban players defect? Considering the armed guards the government sent along with the team, I doubt it. Would be nice to see guys like Gourriel and Barrado play in the majors, though.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 What a mess. What goes unmentioned with these stories is that the U.S. team will travel to Havana this August for the Olympic qualifiers.
