Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Awesome, a bad show deserves bad ratings.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I didn't think it was THAT bad (the show) but I just have to laugh at the rating. It IS deserved.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 That's late-season XFL-level bad. Nobody's watching, Vince, no matter how much you delude yourself.

You know they will blame NCAA for the bad rating What was the expected rating? It's a Saturday. SNME use to do above a 8 or 9 in ratings the last time it was on NBC... CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 They should blame whoever scheduled it for then without knowing the tournament was on. It's not like the dates are a closely-guarded secret that caught WWE completely off-guard.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 What was the expected rating? It's a Saturday. It should have at least gotten smackdown numbers, seeing as friday nights and saturday nights aren't that much different. They can blame the tournament, which is getting higher then usual ratings but ultimately, it's just another sign that will be ignored by the company. They were aware the NCAA tournament was on last night, that was their fall-back excuse. If there was a miracle they could say "see,we're that popular" and when it got the rating it did "Well, we had to compete against the tournament".

True...but NBC probaly thought they would atleast beat a movie and reality tv show...and place in second for the night...

Maybe this will get the right person's head out of the sand...but not likely.
Just John 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 You mean a McMahon angle didn't draw? No way. I'd be interested to see the quarter hours to see if one particular segment drove viewers away or if no one simply cared about the show.
spman 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I can guarantee you that it peaked at like a 4 or 5 for the first match and then dropped off totally after that, maybe gaining a few more viewers for the main event.
what 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 What was the expected rating? It's a Saturday. They probably expected a 3.5-4.0 with the NCAA tourney on.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Well, thing is Gonzaga/IU was on here so there's no way I was missing that game for this SNME show that really had a mediocre build. I taped it though, shall watch tonight.
JimmyHendricks 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 This won't change a thing. About the company, at least. Linda will go on the next conference call talking about the great success of SNME, that pulled a "respectable" rating up against the NCAA Tournament. Do you really think Vince will admit that an angle involving HIM brought in a bad rating? Of course not. It'll all be Edge's fault, and Cena's for not looking good during the opening match. I'm not shocked by this rating at all. WWE still seems to think it's 1999 and 256 million people are watching every week. Um, no. Good lord, they couldn't even top "The Sixth Sense", a movie everyone on planet earth knows the secret behind. Sad sad sad.

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 From this weeks Observer: Even if Wrestlemania were to flop, if Saturday’s show does a big number, in the people who make decisions eyes, wrestling will be considered a hot commodity. If Wrestlemania does a record number, but the special only does a 4.0 rating in prime time, there won’t be many more, and wrestling will be perceived as having flopped this year in its big chance on the big stage. But realistically, momentum is strong that there doesn’t seem to be much chance of that happening. Even Dave's most pessimistic projections weren't this low. This number is a bad one, no matter how people are trying to spin it.
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 19, 2006 WrestleMania will still end up doing really strong, if not record numbers because the international venue, but my god pulling in those numbers is going to hurt advertising potential.

cawthon777 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I added all the known previous SNME ratings figures last night, anxious to see how this episode compared to the others. http://www.angelfire.com/wrestling/cawthon777/snme.htm I'll wait until the number is finalized before adding it to the mix. For the record, the last SNME on Fox in 92 drew twice that number.

chaosrage 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 You forgot SATURDAY NIGHT Main Event was on a Saturday? I knew it was coming on this saturday when I watched Raw. It just slipped my mind over the week. I'm not used to Saturday being a wrestling night.
Guest Hass of Pain Report post Posted March 19, 2006 This was the expected rating. Who are all of these people that are supposed to come out of the woodworks on a Saturday night to watch a product that is no longer popular. WWE put every star that they have ever had on the Raw Homecoming show and pumped millions of dollars into advertising it and proved that their absolute ceiling when it comes to ratings these days is like a 4.5 on cable. It's foolish to think that a weaker card on a weaker night could have drawn more viewers than the Homecoming show, even if it had the benefit of NBC to air on. Another scary indication of how far domestic public interest has fallen for WWE. It's not like it matters anyway. It's almost a good thing that WWE didn't pull a huge number last night because it would have been more eyeballs realizing that absolutely nothing has changed since they stopped watching years ago and more people forced to sit through a boring ass match between a geriatric girl in Shawn Michaels dancing all over the ring like it's 1995 and Vince McMahon beating his tired heel persona into the ground. Or the Undertaker looking 90 years old trying to sell this ridiculous "pure striker" gimmick that he wants to get over so badly because he is such an MMA fanboy. If WWE was smart, they would have shelled out a million dollars for some huge celebrity to appear to work on some hot angle involving John Cena, Edge or Randy Orton and then showcase the hell out of their new generation of stars like MNM, The Boogeyman (who was the star of the entire show and the guy the audience clearly most wanted to see), Ken Kennedy, Bobby Lashley and some others. There is absolutely no excuse for the entire show not being built around Orton, Cena and Edge. They are CLEARLY the guys WWE needs to be pushing right now.
