Smith Machine Squats

Recommended Posts

How often are your leg workouts, perhaps you are overtraining? I don't like the Smith machine, because your stabalizing muscles are not benefiting as much as they would with free weights, so it's putting a lot more strain on your major muscles than you are probably used to, and at the same time your stabalizers are getting weaker.

I used to overtrain big time. Now, I don't.

Update time. Yeah, it was definitely the Smith machine. 100% without a doubt it was just like I thought. I'm doing an awful lot better in the flexor area now. But man, we can't do real squats in my gym and my legs are paying the price. They've shrunk some though I've managed to keep some muscle with some other exercises.

Before someone mentions leg presses just let me mention they've traditionally been a means of injury for me.

Now I just have to worry about my other million and a half injuries.

Hindu squats for ligament strength. Maybe wall sits too.

Olympic lifts for speed and power (cleans, clean & jerk, snatches)

That always did me right. Hindu squats are fucking torture, though.

Olympic lifts are really fun. You seem to get off on lifting, try some Olympic lifts. It's cardio and lifting in one package!

Of course finding bumper plates is a bitch.

I joined a gym and they didn't have bumper plates. Well, c'est la vie. So I started doing cleans and this asshole tells me they're not allowed!

For bragging purposes my biggest snatch (laugh it up) was 180.

You have to have someone teach you that shit, though. Otherwise, you'll eff up your back badly.

Nothing wrong with the 180 snatch at all. Be proud of it.
