Hatchet

Did anyone else see this?

The unrated version is on TV-Links and it's awesome. It totally makes up for how terrible Halloween was. It's got to be one of the funniest horror films I've ever seen. Seriously, this year it's only behind Knocked Up and Superbad for constantly making me laugh. It's kind of both a parody and a homage to slasher films. The two male leads are Rudy's friend Bud from The Cosby Show and the robotman from Grandma's Boy and they are both funny as hell. Plus, it had loads of violence. Kane Hooder doesn't fuck around as the killer and it's more violent than 4 or 5 Friday The 13th films combined. It also throws in tons of suspense, good chase scenes, a creepy monster, a creepy Louisiana swamp setting, and some killer jump scares. The cameos were actually pretty memorable and funny. Kane Hooder (Sans makeup) delivers a sympathetic show, Tony Todd is a riot, and Robert England is solid as usual. Unlike, Halloween where Bill Mosely, Clint Howard, and Sid Haig kind of just stand around and do nothing.

So, if it's playing near you, see it. It's one of the most enjoyable horror films I've seen in a long time. And, if you can't find it playing near you, go on TV-Links and watch it for free before it gets taken down.

It's not playing near me at all (I think it's only at 70 theaters right now), but yeah, you can find it on the usual "watch TV & movies online" sites, and the perfect DVD screener is also now floating around.

I've been waiting to see this film for over a year now. I's only playing at one theater in my area in Manhattan. I will be going to catch it tomorrow morning.

I just walked in the door of my apartment after seeing Hatchet in Manhattan. I have been waiting almost 2 years (that's when I first saw in Kane Hodder's imdB profile this film listed), and I must say, it was worth the wait. It was everything that a horror movie should be. It was gory, scary and funny (but in the right places). The kills were inventive, which is hard now-a-days. I also loved the ending. Green didn't wuss out on it, and I loved that it didn't have the "Hollywood ending." I am going to see it again next week with a couple of friends. I hope it goes wide though, as getting to Manhattan is a pain in the ass at times.
