claydude14 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2006 Did you watch this episode of Impact? I've been enjoying TNA a lot more since the move to Thursday. I usually Tivo it every week and in the past at points it's felt like a chore to get through the whole episodes, but I've found myself looking forward to Impact much more now. The format change is doing wonders so far.
luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2006 IMO WWE has been getting steadily worse every week. Im sick of watching it. TNA may not have good storylines, but i prefer watching iMPACT to Raw or Smackdown.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2006 I think the move to Thursday night would be a great starting point to hook in new fans. There are big names from the past that casual fans can recognize in the case of Sting, 3D, Sabu and with the X Cup the new fans can get a preview of what to expect from the X Division and be introduced to styles outside of the normal slow boring methodical style that is the main event. TNA has hit a few speed bumps such as every new or over talent had to be involved with Jeff Jarret somehow and Shelly thinking that 7897984439287 spots in a 5 minute span is a good thing. On the upswing are Christian, Samoa Joe, Abyss, Rhyno who bring new blood to the main event scene which was and some might say still stuck in 1998-2000 WCW mindset. So what if Monty Brown, Naturals, Hoyt, etc fell off the tv landscape...the future looks bright and they will get their spot back if and when TNA gets more tv time. luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 As long as they can bring in new fans, we wont have to worry bout all these old stars. My theroy is that they bring back the lugers, bagwells etc just to bring in the casual viewer, get them hooked, get them hungry, then give them all the TNA homegrown talent. Then we can focus on all them.

The format change is doing wonders so far. Well so far they are 2 for 3 on the Thurs deal - the first show was GREAT, one after that IMO was not very good at all, but then last weeks definately delivered. Everyone has good points about why this Thurs slot might work, but I think there is still a large issue in that they start so damn late at the night that even a solid TUF lead-in makes people slowly tune out casually the later it gets. I dont care how great the show could be, I think it still might happen just because it gets so f'n late and its a weeknight, so thats a given that people need to crash at a decent time to get up for work the next day, etc. Its REALLY hard to get used to generating a weekly fanbase to a product when its so damn late like that too. TUF on Spike as Raw as the lead-in was a bit different because you had 3 to 4 million watching the end of Raw, whereas TUF doesnt even have half of that nearin the end of their Thurs show to support the TNA following it. With that said it really bugs me Spike has a fucking highlight UFC show on before TUF which can really and should be aired after TUF instead, as that show is on constantly all week long and it always generates about the same rating constantly (heard always about .4 or .5 on it). If they want to keep the UFC audience, then have that AFTER TUF and TNA could be a nice early lead-in to TUF, because the wrestling before UFC combo worked before with Raw better than the opposite way. I dunno, I could be wrong and having a 8c/9p TNA slot wouldnt still put a dent in the ratings, but I would tend to think it very much would. More people are flicking through channels around that time versus 10c/11p.

Luger and Bagwell were nothing but second rate nWo hanger-ons in WCW...its ok for people from Sting's past to show up for one shot deals to advance storylines but the has beens should not be regulars on Thursday Night Action iMPACT! luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2006 It does annoy me no end that TNA refuse to put there mid card talent on iMPACT, just every now and again would do. Im sick of seeing JJ and Steiner, its boring now. and it wasnt intresting to start with.
