Fuck Radiohead

Recommended Posts

Yeah, that's pretty insane. Still, gonna try and get tickets this Saturday morning. I can sorta jusfity paying that much for a band like Radiohead. And it's at the Hummingbird Center, which apparently seats around 3,000.

I was prepared to go in the 50-60 range because that's what I paid last time but there's no way I can justify this. That's two UFC PPV's.

Think of it as a $10 upgrade for a smaller, more intimate venue :)

Just imagine the price if their music was actually any good.

They are fun live, but I think they could be a lot more fun. The best material comes from two places: when they play really energetic mid-90s hits like "Just" or even "Creep," and, on the more complex side, any of the material off Kid A and Amnesiac. Songs like "Everything In Its Right Place" or "The National Anthem" or "I Might Be Wrong" are absolutely masterworks to behold live. Those songs grow and breathe in ways that I never thought they could; their general coldness on CD is totally recalibrated, and you end up with huge, exciting, synthy, exploratory jams. Unfortunately, I caught them on the Hail to the Thief tour, which meant that half the songs played were off that album. And while those are generally pretty good songs, they were played very by the book. They also stopped between each song, and I felt they could have gotten a lot more out of a more continuous set list.

I'm half surprised you find Radiohead boring, Banky, but then I think about what I know of your tastes and I'm not that surprised. But I'll be really surprised if you don't at least like The Bends, because as many have said many times over, everyone should like that album. So good!

i can't get past his voice. don't think i ever will. i do like fake plastic trees, though. but still...that voice. in high school i really liked both the bends & ok computer. but that has slowly dissapated throughout the years. after ok computer, i don't like them at all. just electronic noise. which is fine in its own right, but i sorta resent how they've become demigods via such ungodly music.

It sucks, but this is the way free market works. Supply and demand will dictate the prices of these things in a pretty straightforward manner. Even when you factor in Ticketmaster' kick-you-in-the-nuts 'service fees' and scalping, the fact that people pay these prices for shows means the price will get there.

Unless you know, the artist really cares enough to reduce the price and their managment will let them get away with it.

The fact that enough idiots will pay $300 for (non scalped) tickets to see Madonna ENSURES that Madonna tickets will be $300.

Just want to echo that "Everything In Its Right Place" is much better in its live form. That or "Idioteque" is the best adaptation of an electronic song.

why are they charging service fees to people to go see their concert?

We should applaud Thom Yorke for his commitment to taking down large corporations and encouraging fair trade.

High ticket prices = less likely to be bought by touts and more chance for hardcore fans to buy them.

I'm seeing Radiohead at a festival in Paris this year. Radiohead, Morrisey, DJ Shadow, Broken Social Scene and a bunch of others. And the tickets are less than $100. Which is chicken feed when other festivals cost the equivalent of $300.

One of your options has a proportionally greater chance of getting you ass.

How desperate are you for ass when you talk about going to a fucking Radiohead concert for it?

I know it's been a long time for you Kotz, but c'mon now.

I think Kotz is referring to the amount of fit gals at the Radiohead show, which I don't doubt there will be, compared to the testosterone-fest that is a UFC night at my place.
