Assassins' Creed

Recommended Posts

She actually worked as a programmer, but was one of many credited names, not a lead or anything. She's never been given any sort of major credit or anything, that I could find.

Behold--the only thing I ever found on the internets in regards to her pre-AC "work."

"There" was unreleased, BTW. She supposedly did something for Sony, too, no clue what.

So she apparently has enough programming experience--enough to BS, but considering this is Ubi (founder of the Frag Dolls!) I have no doubt she's a fraud, unless she's been involved in way, way more and was uncredited.

That game is cool so far. I played it last night for an hour or so. I killed the first of the nine Assassins. Getting back to the hideout was a bitch at first.

After I finished my first 3 major assassinations, I got a warp option.

Flag hunting, a few viewpoints, and killing the stray Templars is all that's in the overworld.

Anyone interested in the game, but hasn't got it yet: if you have a 360 and PS3, it seems the 360 one is the way to go. Everyone is reporting framerate issues, lock ups, and white screening. Anya's gotten the the first 2, big time. Claims of PS3 version running a bit "smoother" are as big a fraud as the lady who made them.

However, the game locked on my 360, but who knows if it is the system or the game...

The game feels a lot like Crackdown, and as Anya mentioned, "both the good and the bad." There's informer flag-fetching that's just like the rooftop races, even.

Some people called it a medieval Hitman, although things aren't quite that complicated. There's usually only a few ways in, and taking your mark is basically stabby-stabby as opposed to other methods.

Anyone know of a simple way to quickly find and identify templars, other than walking around and looking for the helmets?

Flags--longer life bar, AFAIK. The manual has "notes" from Dr. Vidic who says it helps "synchronize" Desmond with his ancestor, so I assume that's what is meant. Flag nabbing, saving citizens, doing all the missions seems to all have that effect.

I don't know what killing the Templars does.

I haven't nabbed all the flags anywhere except for the informer missions. There's still a few flags I haven't nabbed in the Assassin's village, either.

The most fun I have is jumping around with the Spiderman Theme Song on and collecting flags. Sometimes I bitch slap a gaurd and laugh gayly as he chases me around town.

"CATCH ME, CATCH ME!"

I think you mean "gaily."

If not, well, not that there's nothing wrong with that. :P

From a lot of the gameplay mechanics I get the idea that they may have wanted to make a ninja game, but worried it would be overshadowed by certain other titles, so went with something they were thematically familiar with anyway.

Well, I finished it and I've got to say that if I hadn't known beforehand that this was the first part in a series, I'd be pretty ticked off at the ending. Now I've got a short layoff until Mass Effect. I might go back and knock out the Templars and collect the flags and what not, but then again I may not. I've never been big on collection missions, since usually they make one or two of the items so damn hard to find that it's impossible to find them unless you get the strategy guide.

I got the idea it was going to be a franchise as soon as I saw that there was a 'company' involved.

To be honest, I didn't know it was going to be a series until a couple of days ago when I read a discussion about the game and someone mentioned it. I still would have liked a bit more of a sense of accomplishment at the end though. I got way too much of a "Halo 2 ending" vibe. Too many unanswered questions, not enough reward for completing the game.

Penny arcade said that there's a post-credit thing worth seeing.

People seem to always miss those...

Nah I hung around all the way through the credits. I don't think I missed anything. I'll have to find some way to check.

Ah, yeah I see what you mean. Just as soon as I saw there was a machine that tapped into DNA Memories, I thought 'hmm, there's going to be a franchise and each game will be based in a different era'.

Rumored second game will be in an Asian version of Atlantis (I think, I don't remember the article I read very well). Jumping around like a ninja would be pretty cool, and the engine they've got would probably fit the character to a "T".

I found a bridge area going over a small canal or stream. I thought "gee, wonder if my badass assassin guy can swim...?"

According to VGChartz this game sold over 800K between the two versions in its first week.

Go Jade! You worked hard, you deserve it!

Yeah I thought that was pretty silly. A bad ass assassin who can climb walls and can cross Jerusalem without touching the ground can't dog paddle to shore if he falls out of a boat. But hey, you couldn't swim in the GTA series until.... San Andreas wasn't it?

So who can help me out here.....I think I am close to the end and this is where I am stuck...

So when you go to storm Robert at the Castle, and you have to fight all the guards on the way, I ran past most of them and it would let me go to the next checkpoint. So I made it to the cutscene of Robert and Richard, and so I am at the part where I have to battle Robert. Does anyone have any advice on how to beat him? I mean, is there a better more effective way to attack him that is different from just the normal timing attacks you would use to counter? I am stuck on this part. Is this the last mission in the game or is there more? If there is don't tell me what it is, I am just curious if there is still more to go.

I'm still not entirely sold on this game, I've had it a week now, and maybe played it three times, for about 5 hours in total. Just killed the Doctor guy, however, I get bored if it pretty quickly and can only seem to play it for a few hours a day, if that.

EDIT:

Ok so I beat Robert, but now I am stuck again on the part where Musayif brings back to life all the Assassins you kill, any help/advice/tips would be appreciated. Is it just more of the counter-attack?

Basically yeah, keep countering. Counter their grabs (although they can actually get you out of being surrounded sometimes, so I let them grab me when I get in trouble) and don't open yourself up to a string of attacks because they hit rather hard. Luckily, they don't really take a lot of hits to defeat (only like 2 or 3 good smacks to each will do). It can be a long fight if you try to turtle like this, but be patient. They take off like 2 or 3 bars per hit and they can string together hits quickly if you play too aggressively. You're almost at the end, just the showdown with Musayif which is more annoying than anything else.

I tried to give this game a chance, but after a week, I'm bored, REALLY, bored of it. No variation to the game what so ever, and for a game 5YEARS in development, they could have spent some of that time adding more lines of 'random' dialog to people. You save the Citizen and they give the same 3 lines over and over again - considering you need to save at least 60 of the fuckers, it gets boring fast.

The guys an Assassin, he can fling himself across town like he was Spiderman on Crack, yet, if he gets near Water he drowns like the Wicked Witch of the West - what a joke.

Also, the lack of any real exciting BGM or soundtrack really drags the game down.

Overall, very disappointed with this game.

Ok, so I beat the game last night. I think I was just asking for all the help before because my timing sucked on using the buttons for the counter attacks, because I never really needed to use it until very late in the game, up until then, it was mostly one-on-one which eliminates the need to counter-attack. Once I got my timing down, it became rather easy to take out groups of villians.

So I have a question about the stuff after the credits....

so once the credits end and you are back in the lab, is there anything more to do then read emails and gain access to the conference room? I pretty much walked around everywhere and accessed all the computers, read some emails, and then looked at all the markings in the lab over again, and then ran out of things to do so I shut the game off. Did I miss anything or was that basically it?

Did you see this?

Go back into the machine and highlight the final boss fight. Read the attachment. It wraps up Altair's story
