Why are people so fucking stupid?

My pops is a educated man. He has a masters in Public Administration... he's got his head sewn on straight; I've always thought him to be one of the wisest people I know... So, why is it that when my stepsister (his daughter from a previous marriage) sends him this bullshit, his actual response is:

 

Sounds like something Bush would do and we accept because we don't know any better. I had never heard of it before but then I don't go to school so what do I know.

It is something that is worth knowing or looking into. I'm going to check with my Congressman on the validity of it. Sounds like something that needs to be repealed to me.

 

 

How can an educated man be that gullible? Anybody with enough sense to come in out of the rain ought to be able to look at this and say, "Quit pulling my leg!" A fifteen-second Google search turned up this page, which was enough to convince me that the whole thing is utter shite...

 

The bit about "sounds like something Bush would do" raised my eyebrows; unlike most Blacks I'm more or less indifferent to the President, so most of the vitriol towards him goes over my head... Do people really dislike this Administration so much that they'll believe any dumbass thing that gets said about it? If somebody forwarded an e-mail that said Bush was trying to take away your birthday, would they believe that, too?

First of all, you can get in the armed forces without a diploma, so that's BS right off the bat. Second, nothing about the certificate of completion (which DOES exist, by the way, based on the qualifications properly laid out on that spoof thing) precludes you from getting a GED.
