Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Today I got a comcast cable box so I could order ECW one night stand. I hooked it up the way Comcast told me to hook it up but now my VCR doesn't pick up the channels. I have the cable cord hooked into the cable box. I have the cable box going into the VCR, and I have the VCR going out to the tv. Those familar with the cords know what I'm talking about. Does anyone know how I can get my VCR to pick up channels again? I need to be able to record my shows.
Guest Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Is your VCR on channel 3? Not the TV, but the VCR.

If you want to record something you leave the VCR set to channel 3 usually and then change the cable box to the channel you want to record. If you want your VCR to record automatically by changing channels you will need to get a splitter and split the COAX to both the VCR and DCT.

The only reason your VCR would pick up channels would be if you had the cable hooked directly into the VCR. I have two VCR's set up and they are set up two different ways. The first one has cable hooked right into the VCR and then a cable running to the TV. To record on this, the VCR needs to be on whatever channel I want to record. On the other setup, cable goes directly to the cable box, to the vcr, then to the tv.
