Tony149 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 The show is up in Home Entertainment. Those who didn't get their stuff in, don't worry about it, we'll edited in when you're finished. Papacita once again outdid himself with the graphics. Very cool.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2006 (edited) Late Night Feedback. About as good as an informmerical, but as the old saying goes, some feedback is better than none at all. So here it goes. Props to KC for the opening. And again to Papacita for the graphics. The 2006 GAB logo is my favorite PPV logo, ahead of the Trump Plaza AngleMania ones. CW-Bo was fun while it lasted. See a rematch in the future. Interesting to see Christian Wright and the SCM develop some kind of working relationship. KC is the gift that just keeps on giving. His Beverly Hills Blonds promo gave me an idea for a feud. Thumbs up to that and for the unexpected promo. If we gave an award for Promo of the Night, Crystal would win it. The interaction between her and Maria was real... I can't think of the word right now (it's late), but it clicked. Cute. Adorable. Whatever. It worked. Leon vs. Crystal will go down as one of the better 24/7 matches of all-time because it strayed from the norm, that being total mayhem. Gibraltar with a massive beatdown. PK brought it with his promo. Direct and to the point. The SWF bit was a nice touch. Give the promo extra flair. Whoooooooo! (Told you it's late) The 6-man tag match tore the house down. Zack's lights out return had me marking out like him at a Kelly Clarkson concert. See, I can be hip with the culture when I wanna be. The light's out arrival is one of the coolest entrances in wrestling, IMHO. On a side note, I always thought Scotty Static was the Shawn Michaels of The GPX. Dusty Finish with an actual finish. I know I sound like a broken record, but I tell you, these gimmick matches just bring the best out of Alf. He went above and beyond the call of duty this month. I know he's been high on Reject in the past, and that showed in the false finish. When I read that I was like, "Oh, shit, he actually went through with it." And I don't mean that in a negative way. It was a legit HOLY SHIT moment until I remembered the two referees. Match of the Night: Tough one. It came down to the last two matches, but I give it to The Wildcards vs. Hooligans. That storyline came in with tons of momentum while the ME came about in the last two weeks. Edited June 27, 2006 by Tony149
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2006 Alright let’s strap on the feed-bag for the 5th Annual Great Angle Slam (how few e-feds actually manage to last that long?) First and foremost – that has to be one of the best logos I’ve seen, not just OAOAST or wrestling related logos but in general that is quality work right there. Wright / Bohemoth time: Nice way to quickly get people up to date on the feud for those who may not have been around when Wright lost the HIYA title to Malibu (I always appreciate a history lesson). Coming from the SWF where 75% of the people are cruiserweights and very few people actually write Bruce Blank as the power monster I envisioned him I’m totally digging the depiction of Bohemoth in the match. Well what there was of the match, It had promise – a promise it’ll have to keep down the road. Usually the cheapo DQs should be saved for TV shows and all, but I for once I didn’t mind, the physical part of their feud is just starting out (with the break up and all) this way they make us wait a bit for the BIG showdown, makes it more important because we’ve waited for it. And it gives Bo an opening to go Monster on the South Central Militia Excellent hype for when the two actually DO have a match - Beverly Hills Blondes Promo: the Blondes Vs D*LUX – soon Short but effective and a mention of the 30 day rule? Now that’s old school cool. - In the wonderful world of e-fedding women actually can get in there and hang with men and not just be bimbos – makes for a nice change. The story of Rodz being a gentlemen and not just about to let loose on Crystal is sold really well early on, I dunno if it carries on for too long – she’s a former world champion and all, she’s no stranger to fighting men and all and does get in more than a few shots on him. Maybe Leon just can’t take a hint or maybe he secretly likes to be beaten up by the women he loves. . . well there is a disturbing connotation I didn’t need Or is he really afraid of Gunner? Does Leon Fear Gunner? Does Joanie Love Chachi? Points to ponder Leon takes the win after being beaten up through most of the match after being stuck in a banana hammock? ?? - Backstage mayhem!! Gibraltar proves that he moves more than the famous “rock of” and attacks Columbian Heat backstage, violence~! And in conclusion – HEAT IS DEAD!! GIBRALTAR AM MONSTER!! - Tag-Team Title goodness: Nice use of GAB history, painting the Heavenly Rockers as the underdogs even though they’re the champions and all going in, little touches like that is what I enjoy about this game. I really enjoyed the selling of Synth’s injury, it helped make this more than just your standard tag-team match, giving it the feeling that Team Heyross could win at any time – which makes the Rockers retaining that much sweeter and much more satisfying a result. Really enjoyed the story being told in the match. - Peter Knight SWF Bound?? (BOOOO – erm I mean YEAH!! Forgot I was supposed to be an SWF loyalist) Effective way of putting Knight back in the mix of it, showing his resilience from bouncing back after the injury and then a nice “Up yours SWF” that’s a sure fire way to gain approval in the OAOAST. And he has BattleBowl aspirations. . . Interesting even if I personally think he won’t win it (Alfdogg needs a new challenger) - AH yes leather straps, blood and carnage, now I feel at home here I’m not going to comment too much on this match, I wrote up till just past where Jamie O’Hara was eliminated and then handed it off. But I agree with the assessment that Static is the Shawn Michaels of the team – that’s how I’ve been writing him and why I picked him to be the last guy on the Hooligan team. I think it’s safe to say that the Hooligans have won the fan approval I wonder what that does to the Upstarts Vs Originals feud (which was what originally drew the Wildcards in) And ZACK IS BACK!! Which seems to amuse Bruce. . . why does it amuse Bruce? Maybe he’ll tell us all on Thursday - Tha Main Event! In a 2 out of 3 falls Alfdog wins technically 3 falls to 2. . . yeah ponder that one It was a good match, solid action – To me just a tad less emotion than some of the other matches on the card, could be because this had a 2 week build and in the back of my mind I kept thinking “We’ll see at least one more match between these two” A title change here would have surprised the hell out of me (in the Orton beats Benoit bad kinda way) but now Reject has been established as being able to hang in there with Alfdogg and push him to the limits and beyond. The rematch between these two is a lot harder to predict the outcome off – which is good And it was a wrestling match – a good way to follow a brutal match like the 6 man tag, mix it up OAOAST style!! Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2006 Everyone did a great job as usual. I'll apologize one last time for the match being late and short, I wanted something big and epic but it's hard to gauge how much you've written with wordpad and no printer. I got the basic concept of Otaku having to out think Brock in, though, I think. I'll be starting my matches earlier from now on. The Christian/Bohemoth match didn't bug me for being short, it's totally in Christian's character. The Cyrstal/Rodez match was good, but it was missing a certain something. Neat finish, though, even if it isn't an established move, from what I saw. Gibralter killed Heat, as previously said, which all in all is probably not a bad thing, since Ed has SO many characters to keep straight. From here is where I really started to skim, admittedly, the tag match was fine, and the killer DDT feels old school, I think of Cactus Jack doing a DDT when I see Percussion, for some reason. The 6 man fight was insane, even bringing a scaffold into play, reminds me of Kane/Shane at Unforgiven 03 in a way. It's good to see the Wildcards look vulnerable, finally, and just bizzare to see the Hooligans turn face, but somehow it works. I admittedly mostly skimmed the main event, but Alf always does a good job. He's in an odd place, though, because I didn't really feel the need for 2/3 falls, and if I were to book ala TNA I would have had the Hooligans and Wildcards finish the show, but that's me. Oh, and also as previous stated, Papacita rocks the casbah
Adam 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2006 I think, unless its a blowoff to a feud that's been running for a long period of time or with a massive stipulation (ie. retirement), then that's the only time that the World Title match should not be the last match to happen. Fizzlebizzle later.
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2006 The world title match should RARELY end up not going last (see the last PPV for an example of how bad that can be) even with a short build like this one had But then again being the last match and being the "Main event" of a show doesn't always mean the same thing - the big story, the "main event" if you weeeeeeeeeeeeel of this PPV is IMO definitly the Wildcards/Hooligans match 1) Zack returns 2) Wildcards first loss in the OAOAST 3) Hooligans are turned face in the process 4) Big ol' can of gasoline thrown onto the OAOAST Vs Wildcards angle
