Ring of Honor 7.15.06 "Death Before Dishonor IV"

Recommended Posts

In what is expected to be final chapter of the very successful and critically acclaimed storyling between Ring of Honor and CZW, it's settled in CZW's staple CAGE OF DEATH. It's been an intense feud with incredible action, insane brawls, ungodly amount of bloodshed and it all finishes with dramatic and uncertain circumstances...

Card

preshow featuring graduates of ROH Wrestling School.

ROHVideos.com Match

1). Seth Delay Vs Delirious

2) Tag Team Challenge

Colt Cabana & Jay Lethal vs. Jimmy Rave & the newest Embassy member with Prince Nana & Daizee Haze

3) Pure Title Match

Nigel McGuinness defends vs. Roderick Strong

4) Jim Cornette addresses the crowd. Topics include: A) KENTA B) If Homicide will be granted three wishes to be in Cage Of Death

5) Tag Team Attraction

Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Irish Airborne

6) Special Challenge Match

AJ Styles vs. Davey Richards

7) ROH World Title Match

Bryan Danielson defends vs. Sonjay Dutt

Intermission & Cage Of Death Set Up

8) Cage Of Death

JJ Dillon will be in charge of the cage door as well as the coin flip to determine which team gets the advantage. Two wrestlers start for a 5 minute period. Then one team will get the advantage for two minutes. The next time will even the odds for two minutes. This will continue until all five members of each team have entered the cage. At this time the match will end with the first submission or pinfall. The match can only end when all five members of each team have entered the cage. The combatants are:

Team ROH of Samoa Joe, BJ Whitmer, Adam Pearce, Ace Steel & a mystery partner

vs.

Team CZW of Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, Necro Butcher, Nate Webb & a mystery partner

----

Essentially, COD is WarGames format but with a mysterday partner for each team. ROH has already confirmed it'll be Homicide in that spot if Jim Cornette grants Homicide's three wishes. Chris Hero, insists that he made a deal with the devil to get his 5th man.

This isn't a loaded card beyond the main event and AJ/Richards but it's all about the main event. It was madness at 100th show and the environment for DBDIV will crazy as each side of the venue will be split by ROH and CZW fans.

I think the rumor there is another Chris Hero attack on the ROH site.

It should be noted that Gabe hinted that they were going to change things on the site in today's newswire. It's probably to play-off that Hero is making one last attack at the fanbase before the final dance, and they wanted to test the site out.

I'm just surprised they didn't put another message up there.

The show is tomorrow Proto.

Here are abbreviated results. I'll post more detailed reports later

1. Delirious defeats Seth Delay via Submission

*Sal Rinuaro is the new Embassy member. He is essentially Rave's bitch*

2. Jimmy Rave and Sal Rinuaro defeat Colt Cabana and Jay Lethal after Rave spears Cabana.

3. Nigel McGuiness retains PURE title via counout to Roderick Strong. Said to be intense.

*Cornette slams WWE and ECW. Rejects Homicide's wishes. Announces KENTA Vs Danielson for 9/16 in NYC. Bryan Danielson takes the 5th spot in the COD for ROH*

5. Briscoes defeat Irish Airborne

6. AJ Styles pins Davey Richards via Styles Clash

*Crowd is 1,100*

7. Danielson defeats Sonjay Dutt via Ref stoppage after elbows.

8. CAGE OF DEATH

Joe and Castagnoli start.

ROH wins coin toss

Whitmer and Hero follow.

Danielson attacks Samoa Joe and leaves

Nate Webb in. Pearce follows.

Necro and Steel enter

Eddie Kingston is CZW's mystery man.

Homicide arrives and takes ROH's side.

Homicide pins Nate Webb via Cop Killa on Barbed Wire board.

Jim Cornette came out and told the ROH staff to take the garbage wrestlers and drag out the trash. Cornette asked Dillon, Pearce, and Homicide to stay at ringside. He thanked Dillon for leading ROH to victory and thanked Pearce for being his eyes and ears when he was dealing with knee surgery. Cornette thanked Homicide for stepping up and said he knew Homicide would do what needed to be done for his home promotion. He said Homicide has his three wishes. The fans chanted, "Low Ki."

Homicide said he wants Steve Corino in a ROH ring. Cornette said he would make it happen. Homicide said he wanted a ROH title match, and Cornette said he got it. Homicide then said he wanted Low Ki reinstated. Cornette said that he has a problem with that because Ki knocked his tooth out. Cornette said he promised he would do something for Homicide, not Ki, and Ki will never be back as long as Cornette is back. Homicide said that Cornette was a liar because he's not giving him what he wants.

Cornette said he's not going to do it and asked if he was Homicide or "Homocide" because he wanted his gay lover. Homicide spit in Cornette's face. Pearce hit Homicide and Cornette maced him. Dillon and Pearce handcuffed Homicide to the corner. They maced Julius Smokes as he tried to climb the cage. Cornette began whipping Homicide with a strap as the ROH staff tried to get in the ring.

I'm glad to see Cornette as a heel, he is just so natural at it. Homcide/Cornette, will be a fantastic storyline.

I'm wondering if the whole Low Ki deal was a work now for this purpose. It takes BIG balls to put aside a big name and draw (especially after announcing 3 big matches involving Ki)...and they keep bringing him up. Granted, they are more likely to be working the audience because they know the want of a LOW KI return is high.

Either way, Gabe has been excellent in scripting this entire storyline.

It was a fun show- loved Nigel v. Roderick. ME was really good but too long, and the use of Joe was bullshit.

The fans throwing shit and Homicide's entrance was awesome

That's the problem with the TNA deal. Joe can't go all out for ROH the night before TNA ppv's (this isn't the first time). However, it set up Danielson Vs Joe on 8/5 which should be off the charts.

I know that's why he didn't bleed and that's the reason, but it's still BS when they pull that stuff. Just don't book him.

ROH really has to do something about fans throwing stuff. They can't encourage everyone to do it with Jimmy Rave and then freak when it happens in COD.

But I enjoyed the show. A bunch of good solid matches, a fun atmosphere, and we yelled funny stuff at Roderick

I thought they should have placed Cabana in the COD and put Joe in the Embassy match instead. I get that Joe is a big name and he needs to "defend" ROH but you can't book a guy for a few minutes and let him take minimal bumps and then get taken out by his own "team-mate".

Sooooo many people saying Danielson "turned on ROH and joined CZW" ... wtf? All he did was hit Joe and leave--it furthers their title feud.

Sounds like a solid show.

From Gabe on the whole TNA and Samoa Joe situation...

I never post in these types of topics but I'm tired of all this. First of all, TNA had NOTHING to do with Joe tonight. Tonight would have gone down exactly how it went down if TNA had a PPV tomorrow, had no show tomorrow or didn't even exist.

TNA has NEVER come to me with any booking concerns about particular matches. In fact, I hardly even talk to anyone there except for their booking agent to, you know, book guys and he is more than happy to book guys out to us. In fact, he has been more than helpful to ROH on numerous occassions.

Samoa Joe has wrestled injured for ROH in the past when he could have easily taken the night off. Samoa Joe busted his ass in that ring last night for all of you and gave it his all. To this day Samoa Joe makes sacrifices to ROH that you will never know about because he supports this company and feels a strong bond to this company.

While we are on the subject, the whole thing going around the internet that TNA wrestlers will not win ROH titles is also completely ridiculous and has no truth to it.

So I hope this clears some stuff up. Thank you to everyone tonight for a great show. We will all try our best to maintain this level of quality for you.

I'm definitely happy to hear that.
