Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 If anything he was talking about social issues, so my point is quite relevant. Smek'd.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 No one rational is saying we need to go back to having segregation. I think the point I was making was pretty obvious. Basically, I think Americans need to "toughen up" a little bit and quit being so sensitive to everything that might offend a small minority of people, to expound on my point earlier. Take for example, the supposed "war on terror." Terrorism is a tactic, not a nation or group. What we're really at war with is fundamentalist Islamic terrorism...not all terror, because we're not fighting any non-Islamic terror groups currently. But, the president and government can't say that, because someone might be offended. We immediately equate any intolerance of a group or policy as racism, and that is what is hurting America. We can't move forward with a coherent border policy, because people immediately scream that it's racist, etc. If someone at an airport looks suspicious and is of Middle Eastern descent, they can't be inspected because that would be racist...it goes on and on. However, when talking about the 1950s, you go back and look at how the family was valued. Parents were expected to raise their kids...not schools or the government. I think people more and more expect the government to take care of everything, and lack personal responsibility. That's what I meant...not that we should make black people drink out of separate water fountains.

Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 NOPE YOU HATE TEH BLACKS SMEKD Hey Czech I think Snuffbox hijacked your account. For the record, I didn't want to imply that you were actively in favour of segregation Invader. I was merely making an overexaggeration of the fact that I disagree strongly with your social beliefs, at least as far as what you've displayed in this thread. At least you didn't take it personally haha. I'll get into more of what you said (which I find to be either vague, unrealistic or just plain false) later today, as right now I'm busy. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Does Invader realize that the 1950s wasn't really just one big Leave It To Beaver episode?

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Naw, the 60's were like an episode of the Andy Griffith show. You know a town in North Carolina that has no black people and no racial problems.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Yes, I understand there were lots of social problems, blah blah blah. I didn't mean we should literally go back and relive that time. Clearly things are better today in many aspects. Anyway, I'm not sure what this argument is about anymore, so I'm just going to leave it at that.
