You even see video of the discussion of who should be on top. Check out who they predict as the future of Metal. Kinda disagree with Trivium not being on it. Also look at the celebs picks for the greatest which include Chris Jericho, Triple H, Chuck Liddel and others Top 10 lists.

Damn fine list for MTV actually. I totally would have expected like Fall Out Boy and shit on there. Though KISS IS NOT METAL, neither is AC/DC, and Motley Crue is pushing it. However, you'll find those 3 bands on lots of metal lists, so I'll cut MTV some slack. The celebrities had some really good picks as well (surprised HHH didn't list Motorhead at the top). It's interesting how almost all of them listed Zeppelin in their top 10s, but MTV didn't. Though Led Zeppelin is another band that is usually open to interpretation as being 'metal' ot not.

Their 'future of metal' list was allright too, though most of those bands have been around a while.

And I agree about Trivium being awesome.

Well that's just stupid...

I know it's MTV, but damn. Fall Out Boy isn't even remotely close to 'metal' and I dont even think MTV woudl try to classify them as so.

Yeah, I was exaggerating. I wouldn't put it past them to toss System of a Down or Korn on it though.

Looking at the list of Jason Giambi, he either doesn't listen to metal or roids have rotted his brain. God damn, that is quite possibly the WORST top ten metal list a person could come up with. Kid Rock? KORN? LINKIN PARK!?!?

Criss Angel is just as bad but he just named his friends. And I love how Jericho puts Stryper in the top ten. Way to be metal Chris.

And SOAD got an honorable mention.

Yeah, I don't listen to much metal, but Giambi's list is horrible. Since when is Led Zeppelin metal???

Way too many mentions of Led Zeppelin. I love Zeppelin as much as the next guy but they're definatley NOT metal.

Chuck Liddel is a fucking retard for listing Rancid.

Also, gotta love Dave Mustaine putting Metallica above HIS OWN band Megadeth.

I see only 3 non-metal bands, and of them 2 influenced metal a great deal, and one was the closest thing to a metal band that MTV was playing for a few years (the first 2 being AC/DC and KISS, and the last one being Motley Crue). Plus, the actual metal bands listed in the top 10 actually are not only good bands, but also heavily influenced the genre. I see little wrong with this list.

I do, however, see everything wrong with saying Trivium should be in a Top 10 of metal bands. Good musicians, but they're overrated. Bammey, check out some old In Flames, because that's essentially what Trivium is playing, only with more pop flavor.

No sight of Shrimp Bizkit, Slipknot or Korn? I'm pleasantly surprised

Now if only they'd play those bands on HBB instead of the 20,000 different same crap hardcore bands.

Can't say. I never watch the program. I was just stating that showing videos by the bands on the list wouldn't better the show visually.

I think he was disagreeing with Trivium not being on the 'Future of Metal' list, not the top 10.

Yeah, I meant for the future of Metal. Saying of all time would be criminal. Never heard of the In Flames comparison but see the Metallica/Pantera influence especially in their latest song 'Detonation' which has Heafy singing in a more up beat tone like Hetfield and the use of the whammy in the first solo very Dimebag-like. Hope the Crusade is promising.

I'm surprised MTV didn't list Crazy Town, Limp Bizkit, and Korn in the top 3. MTV "teenybop metal".

I grew up on all those bands, and except for Slayer and Pantera, they remain favorites of mine to this very day. Not a bad list IMO, MTV certainly could've made a totally shit list but they didn't and that's refreshing. I'm not bothered with them calling KISS, AC/DC or the Crue "metal", but like Corey Lazarus says, the first two are top-notch bands that influenced a whole rockin' generation, and the Crue were the "it" rock band of the 80's so it's all good.
