KingPK 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2006 If that was PFL's swansong for a while, he went out on a high note. Automatic HD MOTY candidate. I also like that we have a bunch of interesting angles that is going to make AS one HELL of a show. How Zack came back was definitely a surprise (though a tad of a stretch, IMO, but this is an e-fed), but it makes the fans rabid for Malibu to take it to Blank at AngleSlam. LUDICROUS SPEED~! Lethal Rumble! YES!
Tony149 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2006 After all the calls and letters I received over my feedback last week, I was determined not to let my fans down again. Here is the feedback you've come to expect from me. I built up my own feedback. One of our best shows EVER, IMO. Leon's cold opening set the tone for Zack's promo, which will go down as one of his best, if not the best and one of the best in OAOAST history. Real cool moment seeing guys Malibu feuded with put their differences aside and join him in the ring. It wasn't about money or gold -- it was about family. That's something everybody can relate to, friend or foe alike. Anglesault's shocking appearance was a feel-good moment. Besides, given the way Zack was about to leave it would have taken something big to explain why and how he returned. The cage match between Blank and Gibraltar was a work of beauty. The chain-wrapped clothesline to start the match worked on so many levels. Gibraltar had been pushed as a monster, so it wouldn't have made sense to see him squashed, etc. Not only was the match entertaining, it also advanced the feud between Gibraltar and Colombian Heat. The Hot Newz~! break-in will go down as one of my all-time favorite moments, along with the 10-man I co-wrote with Patty and the 8-man tag I wrote a while back. KC went all Patty on me and repackaged the movesets on most of the second-tier tag teams, so the HI-YAH tag title match came off better than it would have a month or two ago. Priceless commentary from the GPX throughout, even if they did steal the run-in line from E&C. The GPX may have gone babyface for Zack, but they didn't show D*LUX any love after the match. Axel's first appearance in like 3 weeks! Let Pete and PK fight. Heh. Pete and Pete. When it's late I ramble. Ghost Machine's intro was gold, but he's a MAN and not a machine! The OAOAST now has a Little SWF within. Rick Moranis?! The Rick Moranis? Somehow HD keeps finding ways to get better and better! There's something you don't see often. A respectful challenge. No authority figure either. The Alf/TK-Stone/Hoff match made me miss Hoff and NYU. "Etched in Stone" is blowing up in my face. And I've already made 15,000 t-shirts. Hey, more angle development. Cool. The sequel was better than the original. Torneo Cibernetica II ruled. Disappointed to see a writer the caliber of PFL go, but he went out on a high-note. Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2006 (I didn’t write anything but the Bruce/Gibraltar match so I’ll comment on Zack’s stuff as well as everything else) It’s Thursday and you’ve all been HELDDOWN!! And it’s time for the HeldDOWN RunDOWN and what a show it was, let’s start with the rating – 7 thumbs up (yes it was so good I grew five more hands just to give it 7 thumbs up) Major, Major steps taken tonight. The Rodez start was perfect, a former friend & enemy totally shook up by the decision to fire Zack Malibu – pointing out the oddness that Bruce & friends go free without any consequences was a nice touch (I guess it’s been sliding because of the fight over who controls the company. . . well at least that sounds like a semi-plausible explanation) Sets the mood for the show right off the bat The set up for the farewell is awesome, friends, enemies, faces, heels all out to say goodbye to Mr. OAOAST, really underlining how big a loss it is to the federation and to a lot of people personally, just awesome stuff. The emotions are really running high with Zack breaking down, Leon entering the ring to and then the rest of the guys to say a final tearfilled goodbye – if only real federations could bring out this kind of emotion! It wouldn’t be a wrestling angle without a surprise though and that surprise – ANGLESAULT!! *mark out city* Anglesault comes out to talk a bit of sense into people, well actually he comes out and says that if Malibu leaves then it’ll be the “One and Only Thread” because he’s taking the “AS” out of it! (that sounded better when Zack wrote it ) And then just to kick Bruce while he’s down (serves him right the rat!!) he books Zack Vs Bruce “NO RULES NECESSARY!!” Which to crowd roars with pleasure over – don’t they know Bruce held the Ultraviolent title for 213 days? That he’s redefined no rules out of control brawls in the SWF? Don’t they know that Zack is a little cute and cuddly mouse walking into a mean and nasty mouse trap??? Well maybe he’s not EXACT a cute and cuddly mouse – and he is revenge fuelled (while Bruce is just beer fuelled) but still. . . “Bruce’s home field, come and play” MUA-HA-HA-HA Makes me wonder what the new people in charge think of Anglesault swimming in their soup Hell makes me wonder why the “Powers that Be” don’t punish Bruce and the Wildcards more than they have so far. . . . Well except having to face the monster Gibraltar in the cage, that’d count as punishment Which I wrote so I won’t go into it too much The match leads to “Theodore Moneymaker” (related to Pro-poker player Chris Moneymaker??) Moneymaker playing all nicey, nice and then sticking the couple with a huge bill. Now that’s old school cool. I’m enjoying these intro segments big time. - Heavenly Rockers!! Black T!! and. . . the Sooner Bruisers? YAY for Hoss’ference! And a wedding to boot – but not without an incident! Excellent no wrestling wedding should be without one (or 10) wrestling logic says “If you’re attacked by a guy under suspension call for him to be reinstated so you can kick his ass” and the Heavenly Rockers are big believers in wrestling logic – it may just be ON! In a way that may leave 1-2-3 or even 4 people without the use of their limbs after the match is over. - D*LUX Vs the South Central Militia With GPX on commentary – with sufficient hilarity to boot (question – former HI-YAH tag champs were just forgotten without even a rematch?) And GPX may have gotten the fan support against the Wildcards but that’s just the magic of wrestling because here they’re back to being their lovably smartassed selves and loving every moment of it. But the delicious irony of GPX complaining about everyone ripping off people as they do the E&C on commentary bit so well No wait I just realized it: Nova ripped off GPX! - It’s Pete on Pete action!! As Longdogger sneaks in and hits Knight with a chair? Or just a series of blows? If it’s just his bare hands then I got to ask “what kind of heel doesn’t use a chair? It’s like the heel thing to do! - Back from commercial and Knight is back up and as expected quite pissed off! Long story short – Angleslam is going to ROCK!! (and not just because of Pete & Peter but they’re adding to the rocking) - 24/7 time!! (isn’t it ALWAYS 24/7 time?) After taking on Zombies and trekkies and I think he pinned a duck in the parking lot Leon takes on a Robot. . . or is he?? Hmmmmm *strokes chin* I just don’t know Fun fact: Ghost Machine V3.0 is currently in the OAOAST although no one seems to remind him of that failed angle Oh and there he comes now along with Cortez & Bloodshed to see if V4 is really a robot or not. My money is on THIS one being a robot!! Oh woops the barbwire baseball bat slipped Blank is just so clumsy that he can’t hold on to the bat, don’t blame him blame the sub-standard bats that the OAOAST buy. PREPARE FOR LANDON!! Which no one did especially Leon Rodez, nor did he prepare for the Shinning Wizard! How awesome is that move that it totally took out Rodez. . . totally on it’s own without anyone else touching him. . . totally It seems that the SWF presence in the OAOAST just grew with 1 – and he’s holding one of your titles to boot! - RICK MORANIS OH MY GOD HAVE MY BABIES!! And what a way to hype the rumble next week, if there is a better way to hype it I’ve never heard of it - And here is ANOTHER SWF alumni Sydney Sky talking to the OAOAST Women’s division (yep there SHE is) - Hoff/Drek Vs Alfdogg/Thunderkid – and with tha Puerto Rican on commentary for “some reason” *looks innocent* A perfectly good match – ending with a rarity: Disqualified for a nut shot, there is something you don’t see much outside of Mexico. Drek takes El Champion down in style giving him a preview of things to come (he hopes) when he faces him at Angleslam and takes the title (again: he hopes) And then just for good measure they do a number on Thunderkid while Alfdogg is watching and Puerto Rican seems a bit laid back about it (struck me as odd) well laid back until he gets a series of kicks in before being escorted out of the ring. Now I’m not sure exactly what the “Spike Future Shock” is but it sounds nasty, the kind of thing that makes the referee call for a stretcher afterwards, yet he’s clear headed enough and everything to throw down a challenge only moments later? Nitpicking I know but it was a bit of a no-sell (even though I know there was a purpose for it) - Words fail me when it comes to the Tourneo Cibernetio – I mean “Awesome” and “Amazing” just don’t seem to be enough to convey just how awesome this match was. Seriously – this should be required reading for all match writers! And even though we never even talked about it I was pleased to see UVX go first, it’s the role he was designed to fill The Brock Ausstin/Otaku II feud keeps burning hot – a short burst of fury before they’re both out, well played. And the faces being down 4 – 2, classic and you don’t mess with a classic The only nitpick I could possibly come up with is that the 4 on 2 advantage doesn’t last long but that’s a small issue. And the end with Faqu and James Blonde – perfect, not too long to diminish the previous 8 eliminations, not so short that it’s feels like a rip off, played to perfection. Genius! That’s the only word left. - This has been one hell of a show, not a weak segment and everything seems to really be building towards Angleslam – I hope we can keep the momentum up. Phoenix Fury Legdrop 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 Some brief feedback since I haven't slept since Thursday: First off, thanks for all of the positive feedback on the Torneo Cibernetica. I'm trying to be more of a person of my word so I'm not saying I'll ever come back for certain, but I might make an effort to write the occasional one-off match every once in a while. Liked the whole Malibu deal up until the immediate Anglesault re-instation. I know why it was done, but the angle might have had more impact had Zack been gone for a while. The cage match was cool, though not to be a nit-picker, but Hoff's slammed Gibraltar before too. And...fuck, I'm tired. I'll be back after a nap.
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 Yeah but it was Hoff - so it should be ignored (kidding)
