Ever get "embarassed" for not knowing someone famous?

Recommended Posts

A better topic would be not knowing someone "famous" in person. I've had that moments before and that said famous person would act like I committed a crime for not knowing who they were.

I was visiting my bouncer friend at a local club and some asshole from one of those trendy emo-bands, (Seether) whom just finished a set down the street came in and he assumed I was the bouncer and told me to take him to the VIP section and I simply looked at him and went "Who the hell are you?" and he went all prima donna and stormed out.

After being told who he was, I still stood my ground and felt "Who the hell is he?".

I interpreted it the way you sugested, Hawk. This happened yesterday a few times when I was at a golf tournament. Since TV only often shows the top, 45 or 50 guys, but there's 200 or so guys you only ever read about. I didn't know who Tim Petrovic was when he got out of a courtesy car right in front of me, as he smiled for a pic my dad took. His caddy was holding a scoreboard with his name in it, which made it into the pic, causing my grandfather and dad to agree we'd probably need it a year from now.

A guy behind us at the practise range said "That's Greg Owen. He missed a two foot putt last year. That's all I know about him"

As for the actual topic...I'm reasonably sure I don't know who any actress between the ages of 23-30 is. I could not pick Jessica Alba or Amanda Bynes out of a line up.

Name a rapper rocker/country music singer...I wouldn't have a clue.
Edited to apply to me. I don't even know the names of rock singers in the handful of songs that I like... Except for Zach de la Rocha, but I wouldn't know who he actually was if I saw him, not even if he were standing next to me wearing a shirt that read, "I'm Zach de la Rocha."

I dunno if this counts, but:

"Did you ever notice that Tupac and Makeveli look JUST ALIKE"?

--Me circa 1997 without even a hint of sarcasm. And what's bad about that is that I was actually a hip hop fan (though admittedly, not as much as I am now), so yeah I got clowned pretty bad for that one.

Like Citrus, I can't name any rockers/country stars outside of maybe a handful of people/groups I've heard of through the net. Also, I barely watch TV, so I doubt I could list too many of today's big name celebrities if I tried.

I dunno if this counts, but:

"Did you ever notice that Tupac and Ja Rule look JUST ALIKE"?

--Me circa 1998 without even a hint of sarcasm. And what's bad about that is that I am actually a hip hop fan (though admittedly, not as much as I am now thanks to bullshit rap, Like Ja Rule), so yeah everyone was like damn, he does! So I got agreements for that one.
