I'm not surprised by Crank's below average rankings this week. The people who've seen it have said good things, but I think a lot of people saw this as just another Transporter film and decided to skip out on it. That's kinda how I felt anyway.

The week coming up isn't shaping out to be too hot either. The trailer for The Covenant made it look like a fucking joke, and having Renny Harlin on the director's helm doesn't exactly make it's case any better. I don't know though, I'm already so sick of school that I might see it to take my mind off things.

Wow was Wicker Man ever awful. Nicholas Cage is just a ridiculously unintentionally funny actor. I can't believe this guy thought that he could ever play Superman...

The Wicker Man was a really weird remake. Huge portions of the script are recycled, but the major premise behind the islands' pagan inhabitants are really screwed up and quickly become painfully obvious.

The hallucinations were an awful attempt to get more "horror" jumps and scares out of what was originally a slow-building film.

I liked Nic's performance, but the way the character was written--actually one way then the next scene going all insane and kicking ass was strange.

The tacked-on "wrap up" scene was terrible.

Of course, it was going to come out a loser anyway. The original movie had Christopher Lee and hotter women (with nudity).

Crank was definately an entertaining film. Seemed to parody itself a bit, or at least not take itself seriously, much like Snakes did. The action was good, comedy was subtle but funny, and overall it didnt just seem like a Transporter rehash like I assumed it was, so I left happy.

Covenant and that movie with the Ong-Bak guy are both out this weekend, definately will likely check both of them out.

That looked OK, but nothing I would go out of my way to see.

Not that my area would get it anyway.

I forgot that Tony Jaa's new film came out too when I made that post, but I'm not dying to see that either.

I swear The Covenant looks absolutely horrible. Like it should have been a WB show but couldn't make the cut.

Seriously! It's like Underworld with teen heart throb boy witches that have extremely contrived names like "Caleb Danvers" - give me a fucking break. Who greenlights this shit??

EDIT: Quoted the wrong post..

I've been saying that to my friends for about 2 weeks now, lol.

I can't wait to see the Protector. I am a big fan of Jaa and LOVED Ong Bak.

Does anyone know if Pirates reached 1 billion dollars world wide yet? I think Titanic has the record and I would love to see it beat.

I like that Barnyard is still in the Top 10. VERY good movie. Not as funny as the other CGI flicks out by Dreamworks (though Madagascar fucking sucked outside of the lemurs), but more emotional. A good story about a young man growing up, and a lot of the laughs are things that fans of Jackass/CKY and other incredibly stupid humor can appreciate (the goat shooting the chickens out of the slingshot, "that's called BOY-tipping," and when the farmer has to be taken out...3 times).

POTC is getting quite close to 1 billion, but let's not kid ourselves. It's not going to get even near Titanic. Hell, it's already all but run out of steam in the US. Titanic made about 1.8 billion worldwide. If POTC can get to ROTK's 1.2 billion it'll be doing good.

It looks exactly like a WB show, which is why I'll probably watch it.
