Murmuring Beast Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I listened to GG Allin today and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Murmuring Beast Posted September 5, 2006 Author Report Posted September 5, 2006 Favourite track: 'Dog Shit'
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I've never really been a big GG fan. Haven't even heard much of his material, honestly. When it comes to shock-oriented stage productions and terrifying music, I'm a Throbbing Gristle kinda guy.
BUTT Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I think it's GG's own actions and demeanor that make him legendary, not his shitty music. He's no Anal Cunt.
nl5xsk1 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Listening to GG's albums is tiresome. Watching videos of his spoken word & concert performances, though, is terribly entertaining.

Ted the Poster Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Those damn kids make too much.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 In moderation. I don't mind bathing in racket until I convulse on occasion, but I can only listen to so much Merzbow.
Gary Floyd Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 In moderation. I don't mind bathing in racket until I convulse on occasion, but I can only listen to so much Merzbow. Merzbow kicks ass. If you think he's harsh, try listening to Masonna. Shit'll fuck ya up real good.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 My only complaint about noise recording is that, on the surface, anyone can do it. It's way too arbitrary to call one noise recording better than another. It all lies in the compositional skills of the artist in putting things together so they're almost unlistenable, and that threshold is completely relative to the listener. Hence, a really spotty and unsuccessful genre.
Gary Floyd Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Merzbow will always be my favorite noise artist, mostly because he adds so much variety to his work. Sure, it's noise, but there's also his weird ass tributes to psychedellia, prog rock, kraut rock, metal, and free jazz. Plus, he's released an insane amount of stuff. Also, try some rhythmic noise stuff on labels like Ant Zen, or artists like PAL or Xebox. Oh, and Aube. Guy does noise, but also does some great ambient stuff, all with found sounds and various sources (fire, water, glass, etc.) Then there is Cock ESP. They broke up, which is a shame, because they put on a hell of a live show. And by a hell of a live show, I mean two guys beating the everloving shit out of each other.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I like noise as added texture more than a focal point. Einstuerzende Neubauten, for example.
