Who would win a fat-off between Mangina and Ralph Friedgen

Mangino. Friedgen's head isn't nearly as fat. It doesn't look like a giant gumdrop.

Maybe it's that Kansas BBQ that got Mangino this big? He wasn't this big at OU because Mike Stoops probably took his lunch money and hung him by his underwear from the goal posts in Norman. "Yeah you like that fatty. Fatty fat fat fat!"

Friedgen's been losing weight, also. He looked quite a bit better last night. He's under pressure to do so, though. I don't think Kansas gives a shit about winning in football, because it's a lost cause.

Could Mark Mangino be more fat?

You know how they say the camera adds 10 pounds? With him it takes away 10 pounds.

When I was covering the OU/KU b-ball game Mangino was sitting on press row and I had to climb into the stands to get around him. He's HUGE.

Actually, it's a good place to steal a line from Friends -- "Oh, so how many cameras are actually on you?"

I tried in vain to find a pic of Mike Stoops yelling with Mangino in the vicinity but alas I couldn't. I have failed. *hangs head*

Damn I wish OU/Oregon would just get here! I want to get it over with be it a loss or a win!

A lot of people have said that this is the exact same situation as when OU went to UCLA last season.

I don't think it is because OU is better than that and Oregon isn't quite as good as UCLA was......but then again the Rose Bowl for a UCLA game is nowhere close to being Autzen stadium.

*sigh* Not much longer and I can mark OU's national title hopes off as "wait for next season."

Man Slayer fuck those Wildcats of yours. OU hasn't been the same since losing to them. It was Bob Stoops first blowout loss and in that one loss all of his mystique just floated away and it's never been the same. Damn purple and silver.

Shame that KSU was unable to parlay into anything, losing to (fuck) OSU in their BCS bowl and then two straight losing seasons. I know I'd probably get lynched in Manhattan for saying this, but Snyder really went out on a whimper.

You may be onto something about not giving a shit about football. 5 turnovers? I don't think they wanted to win.

A book title is coming to me after watching that...

"What's The Matter With Kansas?"

That QB will be dogged for a LONG time over this... he was personally responsible for 4 INTs and a fumbled handoff, two of those turnovers coming in OT.

It's funny how when ESPN talks about "Seperation Saturday" they either gloss over OU/Oregon or don't mention it at all.

I'm not the only one that operates off the "ESPN hates OU and the Big XII" hypothesis. Many members of the local media think the same thing. Guys that have been in the media for generations and are well respected.

Maybe there's something to my theory and it's not just scorned homerism.

I mean the ABC pre, halftime, and post game shows didn't even mention OU/UW last week. They never showed highlights and didn't talk about the game at all but they talked about games smaller than that involving unranked teams. OU's offensive coordinator even mentioned it.

Really... even I've managed to steer clear of them for anything aside from actual sports programming, which is becoming to ESPN as music videos are to MTV.

I don't want the casual or uninformed fan being influenced by them. I don't want people who don't know anything about the teams or issues to take what ESPN says as gospel. I've ran into them in my daily life and it's not a fun convo. It's like arguing with ESPN.

I'm a fucking sports humanitarian.

You can't control that.

It's even worse with tennis, where the usual networks only recognize a few of their own country's and/or pretty players.

You can't force people to be educated.

ESPN seemed to like OU when they were on of the top teams in the country.

OU's cordinator shouldn't be worrying about how whether OU/Washington highlights are on at halftime.

Jesus Dama. Be logical. The reason Oklahoma/Oregon isn't getting much attention is the same reason that Texas Tech/TCU isn't getting much attention. It's because neither team's ranked in the Top Ten.

LSU/Auburn is between two top ten teams and will likely decide the SEC West. Miami/Louisville might be the deciding factor, not only for Louisville's hopes of getting to the national title game, but for West Virginia's as well. Michigan Notre Dame is between two Top 12 teams who both have a fair chance of winning the title. USC/Nebraska is between the second best team in the country and a legitimate sleeper who no one really knows what to make of.

OU/Oregon is between the 2nd best team in the Pac-Ten and the third-best team in the Big XII, neither one of which is in the Top Ten. It's really not that hard to figure out why it gets less attention.

Plus, nobody thinks they'll beat Texas and USC, respectively. That's why there's little hype. In a week with many strong matchups.

2nd or best team in the Big XII. Not third best. Hell they were second best in the Big XII last season(they beat Texas Tech despite what the official would have you believe) and they were a worse team and the Big XII was better.

Hell a loss to Oregon doesn't change the fact that they're the second best or best team in the Big XII as Texas Tech would get soundly trounced by Oregon worse off than OU might.

I don't know where you get this Texas Tech shit at. They haven't a hope in hell of winning in Norman.

Yeah and I still think they would've beaten Ohio State if Roberson hadn't had all that trouble(and didn't he miss half the game). His passes were very obviously off and his mind wasn't into the game.

And I do feel bad for Snyder. He was one of the greats and he needed a better send off. I still think one of his guys, like Venables, should've gotten the job.

But yeah if things keep going downhill from here you can give KSU partial credit for destroying the Bob Stoops era of OU dominance.

Before that they'd only lost a handful of close games and had won 3 straight bowls including 2 BCS bowls and a national title. People were calling them the greatest team ever that year(ok only ESPN was thinking that) and then KSU crushed them. It was Bob Stoops first ever blowout loss. Then they lost to LSU. Then they very obviously coasted through the next season on talent alone and were crushed even worse by USC. Then we all know what happened last season. This season they appear to be playing with no fire.

KSU.....Sooner killers.

Then again you could say that Stoops isn't that great of a coach. I mean the players he won with those first few years were mainly John Blake's players(and Blake while being a shitty coach was known as a great recruiter and is one of the reasons Nebraska is getting great recruits). On top of that he's been outcoached a few times and shows some very stubborn tendencies when coaching. Like the Orange Bowl where he never challenged USC downfield. The one time he did they Mark Clayton got a huge gain setting up the first TD. After that he was content to throw it over the middle where Tatupu killed anything that wore crimson.

Then again Stoops had great defenses at Florida....

So yeah maybe Stoops isn't that great or maybe the mystique was gone or something. But it's partly those damn Wildcats fault!
