JBL hands in notice to WWE

Recommended Posts

JBL may not have been a sound technical worker like Benoit or Bret Hart, but he was good brawler and was proficient during his final 2 years as a wrestler. He had good brawls with Guerrero, Cena, Batista, and Taker.

I still think he was pushed too fast, but SD was messed up at the time with Lesnar leaving and Guerrero feeling the pressure of being champ. It would've made more booking sense been if the last two years of his career had been reversed, but that's not always the way things work. All things considered, I think he did fairly well.

I enjoyed Bradshaw in his APA days for his rugged style, and was happy to hear when he got the push. I was a little upset over Eddy losing the belt but things happen. Bradshaw is a very solid worker regardless of what some may think.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that John Bradshaw Layfield has reached a new deal with WWE and will remain as a commentator on Smackdown along with Michael Cole.

JBL had given his notice to WWE earlier this month and his final show with the company was to be at the No Mercy PPV on October 8 in Raleigh, North Carolina. That has now changed and he will remain with WWE.

I'm digging the new breed of wrestlers who are saving their money and finding other things they enjoy doing or want to try, instead of spending it almost as fast as they make it, and not finding really anything else to do.

In the long run, it could be better for business too.

It might force Vince to provide a better work environment.

I personally thought JBL's matches against Batista were piles of shit.

So did Batista and JBL. Anyway, I think it's good JBL is staying, there should be at least one heel anouncer in the company.

“My plan was to keep going. I had nerve damage in my lower back… when WWE found out how bad it was, they pulled me out,” he said. “And I’m proud of that. The company cared enough about me to do that and [WWE] cares enough about me right now to not let me back in the ring, which I’m also proud of.”

You think WWE is a little bitter that Angle's in TNA? Maybe?

Doubt it, cause both sides had to realize he'd never be able to work a WWE schedule again.

What does this have to do with Angle.

Whilst JBL's matches during his last run were nothing special, they were a step up from what he'd been doing before, which is impressive for a guy at the end of his career. He's a twat, but so are most wrestlers at that level, whether they're good or not.

It took me 4 months before I finally accepted JBL as WWE Champion. Then his character grew on me. If he ever heals up and decides to come back, I wouldn't mind him being the World Heavyweight Champion and I'd certainly like to see him feud with HBK and/or HHH one on one.

The JBL character grew on me quick but his matches never really did. There were a few I enjoyed but none that blew me away. It was his heel work with his promos that made me a fan so I'm glad he's staying as a commentator.

Him and Cole have surprisingly good chemistry.
