Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Monday is when the BCS rankings come out, later in the day. It used to be part of the 6pm SportsCenter each Monday back when ABC had the BCS contract, but I don't know now.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 I see. They came out on Sunday last week, so I thought that was going to be a regular thing.
Bored 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 No, the Top 10 will be announced on FOX on their postgame show every Sunday. Early word is that West Virginia will move to #4 as Auburn will drop because they played Tulane and that Michigan might move into #2.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Why? Your sig features a team that's going to lose a game or two down the stretch. Surely you don't actually believe they got a shot? I would bet my right testicle that Michigan doesn't lose two games down the stretch. (Unless you're including their BCS game in which case you could say that about anyone.) Of course you would. I'll take that bet.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 I'm sure iggy has carefully researched the line and over/under to ensure that he loses no more than 1/3 of his testicle

dh86 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 If they beat OSU, they're in, but therein lies the problem, they have to beat OSU. And the other teams they face before the game in Columbus. Especially in BCS conferences, coaches aren't bullshittin' when they say that they have to stay focused every single week. if you think Michigan will lose to Northwestern,Ball State or Indiana...you have serious problems
dh86 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 I love Michigan, but I'm scratching my head about the "be very shook" And I believe they have a very good shot. shook is slang for scared.....buckeyes should be scared of the michigan defense
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Come on. Have you even looked at their schedule? Before the OSU game, they play Northwestern, Ball State, and Indiana. It is as close to impossible as you get in sports that they'll lose one of those games.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 NO ONE RESPECTS USC! YEARGH! Not really. I understand where people are coming from with the complaints that USC doesn't deserve the ranking. But it's funny to see people act all jubilant that it took a bye for USC to drop down a spot.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2006 No, but it's only taken the polls about 5 or 6 weeks to catch up to reality. I think they're still catching up. Northwestern is such a pushover that they only had a 38-3 lead over Michigan State before they inexplicably collapsed. I'll be surprised if the Michigan defense can hold Northwestern to less than 20 points. They just score and score and score. They're not good, no, but it's a bad idea to get into a shootout. Didn't they break 50 once last season?
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted October 23, 2006 Florida all the way down at #12? With road wins over Tennessee and Alabama and the big win at home over LSU? Sounds a little harsh to me. Boston College's loss for instance (to NC State) was much worse than Florida's, and their only good win came in 2OT at home on a missed extra point. Don't get me wrong, I'm high on BC, but I don't think you can put them ahead of the thoroughly tested SEC teams. As far as FOX goes, I figure they couldn't be any worse than ABC last year. Keith Jackson damn near ruined the title game by nodding off during all the big plays. Also, I love FOX's baseball coverage, even if it's just for the theme song they play between innings. That's the most catchy theme that just screams 'big event' since the NBA on NBC theme back in the day. Florida's wins don't impress me, though. LSU lost that game, Florida didn't win it. The Tennessee win didn't impress me. I know the NC State loss was ugly, but BC has quality wins over Clemson, VT, at FSU and BYU. Can't ignore the wins. And I'd have BYU higher, as I feel they're a Top 15 team at worst, and easily the best "mid-major" in the nation. But, I can't just ignore the bullshit loss to pathetic Arizona to start the year. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2006 Tennessee's a Top Ten team though who beat Cal by double digits. If Florida doesn't beat them, they're probably ranked #2 in the country right now. I don't see how you give Florida no credit for beating them on the road. I didn't even have Va. Tech ranked when BC beat them, and Florida State was just barely ranked at #24. Those wins are much easier to ignore. Also, neither FSU or VT has beaten anyone in the Top 40 of the Sagarin ratings this year. Back on Northwestern, here are there results for the weeks leading up the MSU game. 09/22 at Nevada L 31-21 09/30 at Penn State L 33-7 10/07 at Wisconsin L 41-9 10/14 Purdue L 31-10 Also, remember that Michigan beat Penn State by 7, Wisconsin by 14, and Michigan State by 18. It would be (no overstatement here), the biggest upset in college football history if Northwestern were to beat Michigan.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2006 Here's one to think about: If Michigan and Ohio State both win out as most expect them to, would their matchup in the final regular season game, #1 vs. #2 for the Big 10 title and a spot in the BCS championship game, be the biggest regular season game in college football history?
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2006 I seem to remember an identical situation in the past, where the #1 vs #2 happened during the season. Though I don't really remember. Clearly this would be up there with the most important regular season games ever in history.

If it isn't, we'll certainly be told it is. Maybe my beef with the Michigan at #2 argument is that they sorta came out of nowhere and didn't skyrocket up the rankings until the thrashing of Notre Dame, and Notre Dame isn't great. You can make the "they're winning still, even if it's close" point, but I think they'd be embarassed in a BCS bowl. Say, kinda like last year.

Clearly this would be up there with the most important regular season games ever in history. It's happened several times. It happened this season, even (OSU vs. Texas). The one I remember most is Florida State vs. Notre Dame in 1993. Then there's the Game of the Century in 1971 (#1 Nebraska vs. #2 Oklahoma), which would be most comparable to a Michigan/OSU 1 vs 2 matchup.

Clearly this would be up there with the most important regular season games ever in history. in 1971, Nebraska/Oklahoma had a #1 vs. #2 game late in the season...it was the last game of the season and the winner would go on to the national championship game at the Orange Bowl...Nebraska won and beat Alabama for the championship that year. while not in the same conference, in 1993, Notre Dame and Florida St. had a late season (I think mid-November) #1 vs. #2 game which Florida St. won...they went on to beat Nebraska that year for the championship. EDIT: Chris beat me to this by 2 minutes...damn working and posting at the same time!

They only lost to Nebraska by 4 and were a crazier Cal-Stanford play from winning it. The year before that they went to the BCS and lost to Texas on a last second FG. Go figure they'd have to lose to two teams I really hate
