HorrorFest 2006

Recommended Posts

Anybody watching MonsterFest on AMC has probably seen the advertisment for this 3 day festival of new horror films. Check out the site..they look pretty darn good...www.horrorfestonline.com

Also anybody check out Bravo's More Scarrier Moments 2006? It's an update of their 100 Scarriest Movie Moments which is a great way to spend 4 hours..if you've not seen it the four hour original comes on Thursday..lots of commentary from directors, comedians and the like...

I guess this could be an overall "Isn't October/November great for horror stuff?" thread.....

Nice! I have the rest of the month off so I'll have the tv on to these channels(and FOX for the Series) the whole time! This plus haunted houses and a bad ass costume party at Union Station(in KC ) will make this a great week.

"10/28/2006: Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings (7 PM)"

Bad movie starring Return of the Living Dead 3 star J. Trevor Edmund as the big heel. So watch it.

Isn't Roger Clinton in that as well. If I remember correctly he also either has a song in it as well.

To pitch in a little something something, here is IFC and TCM

TCM

1:00 AM: Mysterious Doctor, The (1943)

2:00 AM: Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Oct. 31

6:00 AM: Freaks (1932)

4:15 AM: Children Of The Damned (1964)

TCM going with the Romero/Price line-up, just a shame they are on so incredibly late on the 27th

Now then, IFC doesn't have much to show for this Halloween.

Oct 30

9pm: The Ninth Gate

11:15 pm: House of 1000 Corpses

1am: The Ninth Gate

3:15am: House of 1000 Corpses

4:45 am: May

Oct 31

3:40 pm: The Eye

9:00 pm: Haxan

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with IFC as they had been doing some pretty solid Halloweens but this is beyond pathetic. Not a damn bit of horror in that bunch. This channel showed Argento and Mario Bava, now its down to...what exactly? Hell, one year they showed Wes Craven movies and even some Sam Raimi. This year its just a joke.

I think I will have to set an alarm to catch that 3:45 showing of The Crazies...I've always wanted to watch that...that sucks about IFC..The Ninth Gate? Not exactly terrifying...watching Halloween 2 now...forgot how good this one was

The Crazies is an underrated film. But I can't recommend Haxan enough. Directed by Scandinavian filmmaker Benjamin Christensen, ‘Haxan' / ‘Witchcraft Through the Ages' (1922) is a head-trippy silent film depicting black magic, witchcraft, and demonology from the middle ages to the 20th century. Shot and presented in documentary form, the film is more akin to a pseudo-scholarly lecture with moving visual aids. the film is filled with nightmarish images that are certainly profane and explicit. It's also narrated by William S Burroughs. I can't believe they're showing it.

Sacramento is thus far unlisted in the theaters listed for horrofest, but it said on the website the list is incomplete and to keep checking back for more theaters.

I wonder how much a ticket for the entire weekend is....I don't see the point of just seeing one out of the eight.

The fact that New York wasn't listed is kinda sad. This city can be great for something like horrorfest.

The 8th movie for the fest has been announced. It will be a zombie movie called "Wicked"

Well Sacramento does have a listing now, and the theater less then a mile from my house is getting it.....the bad part is that there isn't going to be a package deal for this, every movie ticket must be purchased seperately....I guess they tried to get a package deal, but it was too late or something.......http://www.dreadcentral.com/index.php?name...cle&sid=772

All I know is that if each of these movies are full price admission, then I definately won't be seeing all eight of them......

Oh and here is one that only plays ONCE during the three-day-horror-weekend.......

Full ticket price per movie? Well, better start choosing which ones I want to see.

I've actually heard some good things about "Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror", believe it or not. Also, Jason Alexander is in it for some reason.

By the way, has anyone else here been watching the new season of "Masters of Horror"?
