Augustana

I hope this isn't looked upon as shameless plugging, but I wanted to share with you guys a great band that you may not have heard of. They are called Augustana. This band is a true inspiration to me for many reasons, but the main thing is that the bass player, Jared, was a member of the first band I ever formed, and the new guitarist, Chris, was another friend of mine. We were all in the same class back in the day at Christian Elementary School. Now these guys are on Epic Records, have their video for "Boston" on MTV and VH1, and are blowing up. Do yourself a favor and check them out:

Pleasantly vanilla radio single.

Their song "Boston" has been all over the radio in this area for almost a year, and it's an alright song. I tried listening to more of their album on Rhapsody and I wasn't very impressed, but they are good enough for the type of music they strive for.

Yeah, I got Boston for free off those samplers iTunes was giving away on Facebook all summer. I downloaded the rest of the CD and was mildly disappointed. Boston's good, though.

 

I like a few of the other songs. Bullets comes to mind.

The album cover reminds me of the scene in Blue Velvet where crazy fuckin' Dennis Hopper drops naked and abused Isabella Rosselini off on the front lawn.

Not sure what album it's on, but "mayfield" is a fantastic tune from them.
