The footage of what occurred while be shown this Thursday night on SpikeTV! LONGTIME RIVALS COLLIDE ONCE MORE – AJ STYLES VS. SAMOA JOE Also this Thursday night on “iMPACT!”, longtime rivals will battle once again as “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles will collide with “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe! These two TNA stars made headlines for their near year-long war in 2005 and 2006 over the X Division Championship, resulting in some of the most action-packed bouts in TNA history. This time, both Styles and Joe have their sights set on the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Tune in this Thursday night to see this rivalry reborn! ALEX SHELLEY TO PROVIDE “SHOCKING AND GRAPHIC” VIDEO TNAwrestling.com has learned from Alex Shelley and his Paparazzi Productions that he has apparently been hired to film something early next week, the footage of which the X Division star has promised to deliver on Thursday to air on “iMPACT!”. Will we learn the truth this Thursday night? Is it Joe or someone else? Plus, Kurt Angle will be on hand – so all hell could break loose between Cage and Angle on SpikeTV! All this and much more this Thursday night at 9pm ET on SpikeTV – along with more of your favorite TNA stars including The Latin American Xchange, Rhino, The Voodoo Kin Mafia, Team 3D, the stars of TNA’s X Division, the TNA Knockout babes and many more! credit: TNAWrestling.com Discuss:

TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 Who is Shelley working for? Serotonin? I think they're playing him as a guy who works for himself (and Nash's approval). They've always played him as a jerk who has no problem filming anything for anybody for the right price. Last year at this time, he was working for Jarrett, following Sting around in California. Then, the next month, he was working for Jim Mitchell, filming Mitchell and Abyss stalking Christian's wife in Florida. It's actually a pretty good gimmick that I think could get over really well if they'd, you know, let him win a match once in awhile. This time I'm guessing he's going to be working for LAX though. razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Explain to me again why Christy Hemme is mad at The James Gang? All I saw was alot of yelling and Mr. Ass saying "suck it!". Is there really a need for 3 angles about women being on PMS? I can handle the Miss Tennessee one since she is a wrestler and even the one involving Eric Young looking to get laid but Hemme is just an angry stripper that nobody wants a lapdance from. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I guess he doesn't want to relive all those jobs he did to RVD back in the day. Of course if he's living in the future he'd have to think about all the jobs he'll do to RVD once Van Dam jumps to TNA.
Corkscrew_Senton 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Jerry Lynn doesn't live in the past....he lives in the future. WTF!?!?! Shhh...don't question it too loudly. Russo might catch wind of it and make Lynn a time traveler gimmick.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I thought this was one of the better shows Russo's done since he's been back. There was still way too much going on, but it didn't make my head spin like some of the recent shows have. One thing I kept thinking during last night's show is how far they've come in their video packages. The package in the beginning made both the main feuds feel important, and they even manage to make the Roode/Young deal seem like it meant something. Here are my random thoughts on the show, since I wasn't on the board while it was airing: The opener was fun, though short. Sabin was a riot and did a good job putting heat on his match with Lynn. I don't know that fans who weren't watching the Nashville days know enough about Lynn to know why Sabin is a punk for picking on him though, unless of course, they were watching ECW. One of Russo's strong suits is developing stories for the midcard, and this week's Young/Roode segment was much better than it normally is, and its good to see that Young isn't losing his overness despite the stupid condom buying skits. That was probably the only segment in the whole show that they didn't pipe in canned heat for. It seems like they are going to save Chris Harris' return for LockDown and have Petey stand in in his honor until then, but what should be a killer feud seems forgot. At the very least, they should show Storm cracking Harris in the head with the bottle every once in awhile to explain his absence. Or have Petey or Gail Kim mention it in an interview. Or something. The Joe/Styles match was disappointing. They could have at least giving them 10 minutes before the schmooz ending. James Mitchell cut a fantastic promo, though the Sting/Abyss storyline is quite a bit over the top. Anyway, it was a decent show, though if they could find a cross balance between the heavy storyline focus they have now and the action focus they had when they first moved to Thursday (remember the first show starting with Joe kicking Daniels in the head?), they'd really be on to something. This about sums up my feelings on the product. As nuts as I think most of Russo's writing is, I appreciate that he tries to give some personality to guys who were just Random Worker #114. But I miss the WRESTLING aspect of the show that was so prominent last year. To me, that's what separated TNA from WWE.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Well, someone was not a fan of Impact: RussoRiffic February 2, 2007 I know I do this a lot but I am about to go on another TNA rant. I didn’t want to but I got so worked up and angry after watching this week’s show I had to get this off my chest. I can however promise that this will be my last TNA rant for a while because I am now officially boycotting TNA until Vince Russo is removed from the creative process. How a company with such an amazingly talented locker room can produce such an unwatchable show is beyond me. Actually it isn’t beyond me I watched Vince Russo do it in WCW. There is an old expression: “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Someone needs to explain the history of WCW to Dixie Carter. I have come to the conclusion that TNA is to Wrestling, what Scary Movie is to Horror Films. It has become a comedic spoof of a wrestling show. No sane rational person would act the way people do in TNA. Chris Sabin in an effort to make fun of Jerry Lynn’s age shows up in a bathrobe, using a walker, and wearing depends. Is he six? Who would do this? It felt like a bugs bunny cartoon. Why would Jerry be mad that Sabin is making himself look like an idiot? Ron Killings stuff looked like a bad SNL skit. He said he was going Hollywood and going to be a big star so we now get to see him doing bad movie trailer spoofs. What is meant to be accomplished by this? Counting Cornette and valets there were 39 people on this Freakin show. How are we supposed to remember any of it? What purpose did Bob Backlund serve? Why is Sonjay Dutt now posing? Has Big Kev convinced him that he is on the gas? The LAX thing was beyond unbelievable. Mike Tenay is handed video footage of a horrific violent crime against innocent people he decides to: A: Report said violent crime to police and hand over the video evidence. B: Air the footage and act disgusted and mad. After having close family members viscously attacked and assaulted, Team 3D: A: Reports said violent crime to police sending the people who assaulted their family to prison. B: Become so enraged that they track LAX down immediately seeking revenge. C: Sends D-von to the weekly TV show to vow revenge next week. Are we to believe that Sting now has magical powers, since he disappeared out of the back of the ambulance leaving only his “trade marked” baseball bat behind? That tiny cage behind James Mitchell during his promo, does the prison yard match take place inside that tiny thing? What was the point, was that incase we didn’t understand the concept of jail? There were three matches on the show. All of them had outside interference and brawling after the match. We got a total of maybe 10 minutes of match time on the entire show, and they didn’t even bother to announce the result of the main event. Do finishes not matter? Doesn’t anyone care who won? I used to. To plug a PPV caliber main event then deliver a 3 minutes match with no finish is asinine. If that is a PPV caliber match I will never order a PPV. It is also insane considering the PPV caliber Main Event match that Edge and HBK delivered on RAW just over a week ago. The show is called Total Non-Stop Action yet we get almost no action and when we do get some it is over shadowed by endless run ins, outside interference, and non-finishes. I am officially at wits end and will not watch another TNA show until they replace Vince Russo. Hopefully this will happen before TNA goes out of business, because if they do Vince McMahon will just end up with another video library and we will have to see all this nonsense again on 24/7. TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I agree with a lot of what Storm says, but somehow I didn't come away with such a bad impression. I typically record Impact (a practice i started when it came on so late I might fall asleep), and watched this show again, which I hadn't done in months. There was enough good on the show, I thought, to counteract the valid points he made about the bad stuff IMO.

luke-o 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Man, Lance just got PISSED OFF right there. But complaining about Tenay not reporting the LAX footage to the police is a completly crap point. So what if they showed it? ITS NOT REAL! Its there to entertain us and further on a story line. If Tenay had reported the crime to the police, what would it have served? Dont get me wrong, a lot of Lance said was right. And TNA has lost its way since Russo came on board, but the show is still better than anything WWE has produced in a while. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 But complaining about Tenay not reporting the LAX footage to the police is a completly crap point. So what if they showed it? ITS NOT REAL! Its there to entertain us and further on a story line. If Tenay had reported the crime to the police, what would it have served? It's a completely valid point, but I'm not surprised you don't get it. Everything that happens on Impact, or any wrestling show, is 'real' within the context of the show. In the Impact world, if someone like Mike Tenay is given a tape of LAX beating up Brother Ray's uncle, who has nothing to do with anyone else on the show, it makes no sense for Tenay not to turn this tape over to the police to see that justice gets done. It also makes no sense for the response of Team 3D to this attack to simply issue a challenge to LAX. Logically, and I know that's a dirty word for Vince Russo and a concept that some are unable to grasp, it made no sense for Tenay not to report the attack to the police, given that it was on a non-wrestling individual who had nothing to do with wrestling, and it made no sense for the Team 3D response to just be D-Von issuing a challenge for a match. Logically, Mike Tenay should have handed the tape over to the police, and even if you explain that away by saying that Team 3D could have wanted to keep the police out of it and settle things with LAX themselves, what sense does it make for them to just issue a challenge when a more logical response, the kind of response that just about anyone else in the universe would have, is to vow revenge on LAX. Whether it's 'not real' or not is not the point. The point is that it made no sense within the context of the show. THIS JUST IN; 0.
luke-o 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Oh fuck off, if Tenay had made the call to the police, you probably would have complained about that.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2007 Wouldn't it be funny if the tape was handed over to the police and after the commercial break you could hear the "police sirens" on the loud speakers with Officer Scott Steiner giving LAX the Rodney King excessive force police beatdown with his metal pipe! Dont get me wrong, a lot of Lance said was right. And TNA has lost its way since Russo came on board, but the show is still better than anything WWE has produced in a while. A lot of "arrests" have taken place on wrestling shows, just harken back to the Attitude era where Austin would constantly get hauled away for attacking McMahon or something. It's not that unbelieveable to have wrestlers "get arrested" for commiting a "real" crime. If anything, it would add a little more drama with LAX getting heat on the Dudleys for calling the cops instead of settling it with fists, or some such cliche. All I'm saying is, it's not a crap point. That said, I would also like to see what Lance Storm could do booking a show. He always has some good ideas, and logical ones at that.
