MrRant Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 So I'm headed to New Mexico on business (Albuquerque to be exact), is there anything of interest to see/do there? How far away are the Carlsbad Caverns?
Matt Young Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 Immediately upon arrival, there will be a ton of natives with tables set up, and they will attempt to sell you turquoise jewelry. It's inescapable. Trust me, I've been there.

CanadianChris Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 How far away are the Carlsbad Caverns? Quite far. About a five hour drive each way. The pueblos north of Santa Fe can be interesting, if you're into native culture. Really, though, there's not much to do at all.

MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Letterman had a joke about people who take their passports with them when they go to NM just in case..

MrRant Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 Vision quest. That's the best idea I've seen so far.
Guest Grossman=Fag Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Do you have any Indian heritage? Get with a local tribal group about how you're searching for meaning in your life.
Mecca Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Go check out area 51.......then try to bang chicks like you'd do in any other town.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Go check out area 51.......then try to bang chicks like you'd do in any other town. That's Nevada, not New Mexico. I've been through New Mexico a few times particularly the past couple years driving back and forth in all my moving, and it's by far the worst part of the trip every single time, hands down. I hate that fucking desolate place. Albuquerque had something like 13 exits or so when I drove through, and it looked like maybe the largest city there, so it's not bad. I've heard there's an area there named Nob Hill which is kind of cool, although I can't personally vouch for it.
Mecca Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Nob Hill sounds like a place where porn gets shot.........or high school kids do things...
CanadianChris Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Truth or Consequences isn't that far away.
geniusMoment Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 What do you do for a living where NM is a business destination?
CanadianChris Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I don't know about Rant, but I can say they have conferences in Albuquerque and Santa Fe on occasion. I went to a business conference in Santa Fe seven years ago.
Guest Princess Leena Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 NM is very pretty. I suggest simply admiring the beautiful landscape. You don't see shit like that in the miserable Northwest. Or, you can travel west for a few hours. Visit me and my gun.
Guest Dope Priest Prophecy Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 What did you end up getting?
Matt Young Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Go check out area 51.......then try to bang chicks like you'd do in any other town. That's Nevada, not New Mexico. I think Mecca was thinking of Roswell, NM. Go there, Mr. Rant.

Or, you can travel west for a few hours. Visit me and my gun. I'd consider it depending on when I get out of the building. I lived in Las Vegas for a few years so I'm familiar with the scenery. I wish I could bring my gun with me down there, we could go shooting.
