Your Paragon of Virtue Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 ABC News had a short piece on mall security. I'm sorry, but once in awhile tragedies are going to happen. You can't go insane on securing every single public place because there's an incident every five years or so. This is exactly what our stupid country does. Something happens in a place it rarely or never happens, some white people get shot at (that's the key, no white people then no coverage), and suddenly we are debating not whether or not we should install metal detectors but when and why do we hate the children not to do it. Oh, fuck off. Maybe the news just doesn't feel like reporting a shooting every thirty-six seconds. I don't blame you, it's bad enough having to deal with Mexicans in real life all the time I don't wanna have to start dealing with them all over my goddamn TV too.
Vampiro69 Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I am surprised that the media hasn't played up the fact that the shooter was Muslim.
Dobbs 3K Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Yeah, why would anyone want to admit that many Muslims hate America? It might hurt their feelings.
Lord of The Curry Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Maybe because most Muslims don't. But keep up the chatter.

SuperJerk Posted February 22, 2007 Author Report Posted February 22, 2007 Maybe because most Muslims don't. But keep up the chatter. What do you have to back that up? I'm curious to know how many Muslims you've met in your life. 8 out of the 80 guys in my Navy RTC company were Muslim. That's 10% of a recruit company, versus the 1% Muslims make up of the general population in the U.S. These are guys who were willing to risk their lives for America. I also had a Muslim college sociology professor who seemed pretty interested in social justice for all people, regardless of race or nationality. I've also known a few Muslim college students and a Muslim teacher at my school last year. Most Muslims aren't the fanatical nutjobs you see on TV, just like most Evangelical Christians don't want to bomb abortion clinics or most Irish Catholics aren't in the IRA.

I actually have met a few Muslims, mainly in college. Most of them were nice people. One was very anti-Zionist, but that was mainly because his family had to live in a cave for a while in Lebanon during the Israeli invasion in the '80s. I realize Muslims here in the US are different. I just get sick of seeing images of Sunnis and Shiites killing each other, or Arab barbarians shooting their AK-47s off and chanting about killing the Great Satan, and the media pretending these people can be reasoned with.
EricMM Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Two of my first employers were Muslim, one Iranian family, one Egyptian family. One was Baskin Robbins My boss there, Hassan, was Iranian. He would go off a few times a day to pray in the direction of Mecca. We weren't supposed to bother him while he was doing that, "unless it's very important." One was Ratsies, a College Park "instituation". My boss there, whos name I forget, was Egyptian. If you went to open shop with them, they had a tape player playing some arabic singing, I dunno if it was the adhan or just regular songs. They didn't care what I did, neither of them, they certainly didn't even remotely address my being white or American or anything like that. And they were better bosses than my boss at Subway who was American and a dick.
