ROH: 5 Year Festival/Samoa Joe Farewell Tour Night 2 (Philly)

Recommended Posts

EDIT: Just wanted to tack on rather than double-post: The crowd chanted "please come back to Steen?" For all the heat someone like AJ Styles gets from the ROH message board, it's amazing they'd eat up a guy who's 10x more of a spot-wrestler, and a bad spot-wrestler at that.

It might have been as much for character as ringwork. Steen and Generico together are guaranteed entertainment. Plus, a match with The Briscoes was probably perfect for them. I certainly wouldn't call him a bad wrestler (then again, I'm a bit of a mark for the guy) and he'd be a decent addition to the midcard. Or, he and Generico in the tag division (it's about time Generico got a regular run in ROH, the amount of other indy shows where he's gone out and stole the show warrants a chance at least).

And damn, I'm going to have to start a pro-Davey Richards bandwagon.

Don't worry, I'll paint that wagon with you. I don't understand the Davey-Hate either. And he's in no way an AJ clone.

But I do agree he sort of needed direction, the KENTA's-pupil thing was getting pretty tired. Hopefully this semi-heel turn with Strong will help that.

Gabe had the intent of grooming Strong for the championship not that long ago, so I'm guessing this is the first step to that. Once that happens, I could easily see a Richards/Strong split and ensuing feud, obviously down the line once the No Remorse Corp is established.

I'm guessing that Sydal will eventually be drifted away from Daniels and likely into one of the factions (I'm guessing Evans'). I don't think these are gonna be huge stables, but just groups of 3-4 to create a good mid-upper midcard angle.

I really like Davey. He has shown a lot of personality at the last few shows. I dig his style too. The only thing I dislike about him is the fact that he uses the stretch muffler as one of his finishers. I just hate that move. Call me crazy but I can definitely see him hold the title next year. If not that, then perhaps the FIP title.
