Does ANYTHING significant happen on Smackdown?

I don't know whether I am imagining it but didn't the Smackdown six extend briefly to the Smackdown 8, i'm sure John Cena was a part of that group because he had been tagging with Rey and Edge.

It was just the SD6 seeing how Cena has never been close to the workrate of those 6 men.

 

And who would be number 8 if Cena is 7?

Cena wasn't involved. He was starting his current gimmick. In the tag tournament, Cena and Kidman lost to I believe Ron Simmons and Reverand D-von (who went pretty far in the tournament). After the loss Cena turned heel, a few weeks later, he shows up as Vanilla Ice on Halloween, thrown in a little visit from Bull Buchanan and Rodney Mack and we all know the rest. I don't recall anyone really breaking into these, except when one of the members was given a title shot, which was toward the end of their run.

He gave Vince a screaming "you stole all my ideas" speech, saying all Vince did was convert WWF into a mirror of ECW and call it "Attitude" (I think he even did the quotation mark thing with his fingers).

 

It ended with him insulting Tazz for being a 2 rate color commentator, then Tazz coming up from behind him and choking him out.

 

Rumor had that it was heavily edited for broadcast.
