What in the world do you need for the elusive ***** match rating in this game? Has anybody accomplished it yet?

I haven't...

The closest I've gotten is ****1/4.

I'm sure someone has... just takes much time building the feud and such.

Here are the stats from my latest PPV.  Remember this is ROH.  We don't have those fancy WWE guys.

Randy Orton d. Rey Jr.- ***1/2 (Rey was sluggish and sent to dev. after the match)

Women's Title: Victoria d. Jazz, Jackie (TE)- **1/2

Tag-Title Tables Match: Mike Awesome/Deacon Batista d. SATs- **3/4

Cruiserwright Title Ladder Match: Erin Bray d. American Dragon- ***1/2 (BRAY IS A GOD! HIRE HIM!!)

Chris Harvard d. Val Venis- ***

Deathmatch: Paul Heyman d. Bret Hart- ***

TV Title: Haku d. Terry Funk, Curt Hennig, Chris Candido- **3/4

World Title: Mastato Tanaka d. Nova- **3/4

Overall- 66%

Not bad for an indy show.

Does anyone know how to start a new promotion?  Every time that I try, it tells me that I need a valid commissioner, yet I can't choose one.

Thanks.

What do you mean by new promotion?  In the editor?

Yeah, you can set one up, but when I try to finish it, you need to set a commissioner.

Cruiserwright Title Ladder Match: Erin Bray d. American Dragon- ***1/2 (BRAY IS A GOD! HIRE HIM!!)

I saw Bray and picked him up.  For 10,000 a month, and 100 charisma--he's good.  He's a real project, though.  Starting at only over 15...but I gave him one promo and one victory over Jimmy Yang, and he shot up to 26.  While he's getting over, his matches will be death, but I imagine I can do some good with the guy eventually.

You mean you actually gave him the full $10K, Edwin? Shows how stingy of a bastard I am, since I haggled Erin Bray the Human Charisma Machine to a $9,000/month verbal deal for 3 years. He seems to be happy in the NEPW midcard though.

Dear Jebus, R.C. Haas is still my Triple Crown champion...biggest name talent on my roster and he's only able to work *** matches and get into 75 heat rating feuds. That is the angst of this indy card promoter.

I had a funny thing happen earlier.  I had a Hardcore match between Rhyno and Shawn Stasiak (mainly so Brock could run out and put Rhyno thru a table, thus continuing there feud) well anyways, after the card is over, I get a message from Stasiak saying "I think I should be higher on the card"  while Rhyno says "He worked too stiff with me, I could have been injured out there".

By the way, anybody had there plans ruined by injuries?  I was gonna have Al Snow and Regal in a euro belt feud, leading to an angle where Maven would turn on Snow, but Regal got injured, bumping my plans up a few months

Lash LeRoux vs Danny Doring : ***1/4

Rey Misterio Jr vs Jerry Lynn (For The Cruiserweight Title): ****1/4

Steve Corino vs Low Ki : ***1/2

Austin Lee vs Tony Wolf: ***1/2 (almost ****) Oh, and these two guys are my projects for the fed.

Val Venis vs Norman Smiley (For The U.S Title) : ***(disappointing)

Ah, you are cheap as hell, Ced.  Of course, I'm running NWA, so 10,000 isn't exactly a lot, since I'm still paying Shamrock 125.  Most of my guys that I actually use are in the 50-70 range, though.  Except TAKA, who gets 94,000, but my god, he's so, so worth it.

I sorta had that happen.  I had Crowbar (Devon Storm) fighting Psicosis in a ladder match for my Cruiserweight title (which is not a jobber's belt, nay, but a potent midcard belt about on the same level as the IC, I say!], and Psicosis took a Sick Bump that resulted in a torn tricep for a few months.  Fortunately, I had Crowbar booked to win, and it forced me to push a few other guys to the mid/upper-midcard anyway.

I have been using Erin Bray as well too. I'm going to try to make him into Ric Flair since he can sell so well and has such high charsima. He also is pretty decent at technical and speed wrestling as far as wrestlers that are available to me.

I'm sitting here with the same look on my face that Darryly had at the Tough Enough Reunion after Tazz punked him out. Al Chapman just bought out my federation and I work for him now. I'm an angry man right now, but I hope this will translate to more money for me to use. since I never got to refuse this option. Does anyone know anything about these buyouts?

I'm pissed right now... I took RetroRob's idea and hired Erin Bray. All is well... but NO CRUSIER in the WWE will have a match with the guy or feud with him. Only the women will. How do I get the guy over like that?

I think the "wrestler A refuses to work with/put over wrestler B" thing is seriously overused in this game. I mean, if it was a main eventer doing it every once in a while it would be understandable, but it seems like every other match you try to make is fucked up by the wrestler refusing to do it. And you can't negotiate with them, or threaten to fire them, or do anything else that will change their mind. Yeah, you can punish them, but so what, that still doesn't make things the way you wanted them.

If a fued isn't at 100 heat wise, someone bitches that it killed their heat or image.

That's not true.  Hennig feuded with Nova, lost the blowoff and didn't lose any heat.  Their feud peaked at 81.  Not every feud can reach 100, it depends on what wrestlers you have in it.  For example, no matter what I did with Hennig and Nova the feud never went above 81.

Yeah, but I've been using Hogan and Angle and HHH whose fueds should at least get 90. Everytime I blow off a fued, they complain. This isn't about getting heat for the fued, this about them bitching their balls off because they weren't getting the heat they wanted.

Man, this is getting surreal. It's just a game. It's just a game. :inhale: It's just a game.

I only had this once, on my very first card, when Bagwell and Steiner refused to job to Christian York and Joey Matthews. I replaced Bagwell with Gran Apolo or something like that, and I've never had the problem since.

Of course, now watch: Jarrett will refuse to lay down for Shamrock on the PPV, and my 3-month world title feud will be a waste.

I've also never had anyone refuse to work with Erin Bray, but I've only put him against lower midcarders so far. Still, his heat is up to 41, which is pretty damn good after two matches and two promos. He's the ultimate cowardly heel if built up, I imagine, so I'm gonna have to turn him somewhere down the road.

God, I love this game. It's so simple, and yet I piss away hours on it.

I think my backyard fed is about to go under again. Trying to run a backyard fed is pretty hard. I think I might take another stab after I go bankrupt, but I'll just keep two main wrestlers and just have them go over jobbers continually each month. I'm not even going to bother hiring a writer and I'm thinking about trying to go without a ref or producer. If I can just break even for a while, I'll be some what happy because losing money every month really sucks.

I got Erin Bray over to 73%, so I must be doign something right. So far he hwas feuded with Shooter Schultz, then Curt Hennig. He won both feuds and went on two win the Crusierweight Title from the American Dragon in a Ladder Match. So I think Shooter is on the WWE Dev. roster, put the two of them in a feud and see what happens.

I think I found out why some of the wrestlers bitch after the feud. This is the plan I used for Hennig-Bray and Hennig-Nova, it worked great. Hennig was going to lose the blowoff match in both feuds, so on TV I would almost alwys have Hennig ambush or interfere in Nova or Bray's match. By the time of the PPV Hennig had like 11 wins and Nova/Bray would have like 5 (Feud Statistics). So by giving the loser of the feud more "wins" leading to the blowoff, they should keep or even increase their heat.

I thought that would work for what I'd been doing, but I guess not.

I just blew off TAKA/Low Ki and Jarrett/Shamrock for the world title. TAKA lost an I Quit match clean, and while Low Ki's heat went up 7 points to 88, TAKA's dropped from around 80 to 66. Shamrock beat Jarrett clean in an ironman, and his heat went from 82 to 89, while Jarrett's dropped something like 11 points to 70.

TAKA/Low Ki I can understand the problem, because a bit of short-sighted booking had me putting Low Ki over at both of their PPV matches, with TAKA only getting wins in between. How Jarrett/Shamrock could be so bad to Jarrett though, I don't know. Jarrett had a PPV win, a PPV win in a four-way with Misterio and Corino added into the mix, and many many more "wins" altogether. I worked him into being the mega-old-school heel, cheating his ass off and occasionally winning clean, but it didn't work.

One of the flaws with the game, in my eyes, is that there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the "Over" system. I've had 80% rated tag matches between two pairs of feuding wrestlers result in the heat of 2 or 3 of the guys involved dropping 7-8 points after the match, while sometimes giving the heel a clean on-TV win despite him holding all the advantages brings both guys up 5 points.

Anyone have any clue how all this works?

Well, I couldn't get ANYONE to feud with Bray, so I just sent him to the OVW.

Jericho won the Undisputed Title from The Undertaker in my WWE, but Undertaker no-sold and tried to make Jericho look bad. Then the bastard complained when I punished him by sending him to OVW.

How do you steal a wrestler(s) from a promotion? Did I miss something?

Mind you, I downloaded this at work, so I try to buzz through it quickly at various intervals. Any help would be appreciated.

Finally, My first ****1/2 match. IC Title match between Eddy G. and Booker T. This is also my number 1 feud at 97. Clean wins go a long way.

"Booker T vs Eddie Guerrero (For The WWE Intercontinental Title) : Eddie Guerrero strikes Booker. Standing leg lariat by Eddie Guerrero on Booker. Eddie uses a basement dropkick to the knee. Eddie uses a basement dropkick to the knee. Booker blocks the suplex attempt. Big clothesline on Eddie. Big piledriver on Eddie. Cover for a two count. Eddie powers out of a headlock. Beautiful spinning arm drag out of the corner by Eddie. Hooks the leg for a two count. Diamond Dust from Eddie Guerrero, Booker is out. Pin : 1 - 2 - 2.9999999. Eddie Guerrero misses a big legdrop after stalling too long. Eddie gets slammed. Eddie counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Legsweep out of Nowhere. Where is Nowhere, and why do moves keep coming out of there? Does it have a factory? Eddie Guerrero has Booker T down on the canvas and is ascending the corner. Through the air, Frog Splash! 1....2....3. Eddie Guerrero is still in the ring celebrating. Booker T pushes the referee away, then spins Eddie around! Booker T hits the Book End! Eddie Guerrero has been floored after the match. This was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2 rating."

You can only steal if they have verbal contracts. Go to "Other Workers" and do a search. Make sure you check the box to include workers in other feds.

It doesn't always work. I signed Alex Wright & wanted Disco also, as well as signing Johnny Swinger & wanting Simon Diamond, but both Disco & Diamond said they didn't want to negotiate, even though they were working w/ verbal contracts.

What I want to know is how you get a backyard fed to be successful, and what kind of time period am I looking at? I got my ass bought out after 3 months, and I think I am about to go bankrupt in December.

i only know that my studies and my marriage suffer as a result of this game. as for the heat issue and getting someone to put someone over, when signing new talent look at their scouting report. if it says they are difficult to work with (i forget the exact words) then make sure you use someone else to feud with someone you want to get over.

i'm working ROH right now and have ron waterman and leviathan as the main guys and they keep building up heat. where they were pulling ** matches initially, now they are pulling out 3 1/2 stars. getting young guys who aren't already powerful over is a bitch and just takes time. use patience, people.

Where do you find out if someone is difficult to work with? I imagine you need a road agent for that.
