Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted June 28, 2002 Well, I decided to give up on WWA game for varying reasons from Erin Bray being injured to the fact that the game would freeze every time a new month came along, so I redownloaded the game, and decided to pick MLW. I like this fed. For one thing, I get Joey Styles as an announcer, unlike WWA where I was stuck with Jeremy Borash and Mark Madden who both blew chunks compared to who I could sign. The game went very well at the start, as the WWE realeased EZ Money and no one signed him, so I made sure Money was a part of my company immediately. I also had Shane Douglas, Bam Bam Bigelow, Vampiro, and La Parka~!, on my roster, but I felt Douglas, Bam Bam, and Vamp cost too much, so they were shown the door. I kept La Parka though because, hey, he's La Parka. I also signed the usual(Seven, American Dragon, Ash Parker, Erin Bray, Austin Lee, etc.) Unlike in my WWA game though, the WWE did not massively release a bunch of referees. I was really looking forward to signing Mike Chioda too. I mean, come on, the guy did the People's Elbow to Nick Patrick, how can you release such a great talent like Mike Chioda? Nothing draws money like hiring a referee who the people can say, "Hey! It's that guy who did the People's Elbow to Nick Patrick! I want to go see this fed!" The guy puts asses in the seats just reffing a match. And, heck, he had about 60 or so reffing talent which was better than the crap I had to sign instead. Luckily I have went National now, and I can pick up the old ECW referees. I love those guys, 87 talent for only something like $25,000 a month is a good deal. As for wrestlers, I am doing quite fine. Erin Bray has 96 heat, Austin Lee has 94 heat, and they are in a big feud. Unfortunately, I am having the opposite problem I had in WWA. In WWA, I had awesome matches, but the crowd heat was like 75% or so, thus dragging the match down to about 86% or so, thus causing it to only be ****1/4. This time Erin Bray-Austin Lee have about 97% crowd heat, problem is though they cannot deliver an awesome match, so it gets stuck down in the ****1/4 range as it is. I am just itching to finally get a guy like James Maritato or Scoot Andrews over enough to be stuck in a feud with Erin Bray in hopes that they can carry him to something good, while he works on bringing the awesome crowd heat to the match. I am just hoping to pull something above ****1/4, the best match I ever had since playing this game was ****1/2, but I have only done that once, and it has always frustrated me. Unfortunately, finding something talented enough to carry that portion of the rating with Erin will be hard. The only heels I have over enough to feud with him are Seven(brawler) and Chris Harvard(he sucks in the ring, but is hugely over.) Another possibilty is turning either American Dragon or JR Ryder. Both are quite good in the ring, but I have a tendency to overexpose Dragon thus causing the fans to hate him, so I have to treat him with kid gloves when it comes to appearances on tv. Lest I make the mistake of sticking an over guy who can wrestle on tv or anything like that. I would not want the fickle crowd to feel that by having him, you know, wrestle, that I am shoving him down their throats or anything. How dare I actually think that the crowd would want to see two guys who they actually like wrestle when I can have two jobbers with about 30 heat go at it. Oddly they never complain about the fact that I have such barnburners as Mitch Paradise squashing the Buccaneer or watching Five Star Flash beat up Brad Armstrong while all my good wrestlers just do interviews, trading off with the guys their feuding with every show. EZ Money is finally hugely over, but after having him lose two straight feuds as a heel, I gave up and turned him face in hopes of getting his heat back, which I have done successfully. He is about to start feuding with Austin Lee as it is in hopes that they can have a good feud. He just need to get by Chris Harvard in another feud with a ton of heat, but not a lot of good in-ring action. Oy. I am just glad the WWE is stupid in this game. There is nothing like being able to choose some top WWE prospects in this game. I even had Shetlon Benjamin for a bit, then he ended up getting injured for 15 months, so I decided that, in honour of having Eric Bischoff as an owner, I would fire his ass for being injured. I am pulling in about $1 million a month in my fed though. I cannot wait to go Global, so I can truly see what that is all about. I managed to do that with the WWA, but I quit shortly afterwards. The WWE seems to be plagued with retirements as Vince McMahon retired as an active competitor, as did Ric Flair. I think Billy Gunn even retired, but maybe that was a different game. I wish Vince would retire from on an on-camera role in real life, but c'est la vie. As for angles, I have never had much success with them. I have had some moderate success with the ladder attack and the challenge one. Nothing to write home about though. The ladder one I usually use if I want to set up a ladder match or something, but I am not sure if it really helps the heat for the match or not. I really wish those were more useful though, as they seem to be fun and different from the formula of Guy A verbally attack Guy B, Guy B does the same to guy A, it goes on for awhile, then they have a match on PPV, which may or may not have a stip to it. It gets a tad repetative after awhile.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted June 28, 2002 My NWA game: Main Event: Sting Vader Tanaka Awesome Savage Middleweight: Rey Jr Psicosis Supercrazy Jerry Lynn Kid Romeo (Why can't I get La Parka ) Others: Shamrock Hennig Corino (Main Event Push Coming) John Cena Decon Batista Scott Hall (Has gotten into a lot of trouble, may be fired soon) Any suggestions on who I can get? Erin Bay will soon be on my roster. Can someone post pics of Erin Bray and AJ Styles please? I usually only get wrestlers that I have seen, and I have no idea what they look like. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted June 28, 2002 Dump all your 200,000 a month guys like Vader and Savage. No, seriously. They may be names you recognize, but look at their abilities. If you're 90,000 for guys like Rey and Super Crazy, that's all right, because they've got technical and speed skills up the wazoo, and they put on amazing matches with anyone. They can carry 'em. A good brawler like Savage or Vader who costs that much is gonna get you nowhere fast. The only benefit is to have one or two of them in your fed at the very beginning so you have some guys who are really over for those first few months, but as soon as you can make your own stars, bust them down and cut them loose. They're not worth the money you pay for them. All the usual names of good talent for 50,000 and often a lot under: Erin Bray, Austin Lee, JR Ryder, Scoot Andrews, Matt Stryker, JC Ice, Derrick King, Seven, Jimmy Yang, American Dragon, Chad Collyer...in NWA, you start with Dragon and Yang, who can put on great matches with almost anybody, and also Christian York, who's pretty good. I forget if you have Devon Storm when you start or if I signed him on my own, but he's always reliable. Also, if you've got NWA, you've got Jerry Lynn, who is the best technical/speed wrestler in the game, I think. With NWA, it's much easier to focus on speed/technical guys than names/brawlers. I've gotten almost global and made 28 million in 5 months using that strategy, so it works pretty well.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I've been picking up top guys on verbal contracts at the beginning of the month, and then jobbing them out to everyone until their heat is low. Then I cut them about two weeks later and it doesn't cost me any money. I've done this with Hogan, Savage, and Viscera (to Rey Jr.). It's been working well and I'm probably going to keep it up. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted June 28, 2002 Yeah, that's a mean and efficient way, Mssr. Fly. A flaw in the game, I guess, that people are still willing to sign on for high-priced verbal contracts even after you've jobbed out their peers so often. You'd think you'd get a reputation for that sort of thing, but hey, only so much you can do with C++. And it's a fun glitch anyway. JOB, GOLDBERG, JOB! Guest Insanityman Report post Posted June 28, 2002 Edwin asked about angles for I guess I should throw in my experience with them. They are the devil. They HAVE worked with the women's feud and every now-and-then I use an ambush one to put over the reformation of Raven's Flock. But even Rock and Jericho got a poor result from the Getting Groinal one. Meh, and I'm overloading my other game since everything gotten stale and I want to try a different direction. Guest caboose Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I jobbed Hogan out to all my Cruisers and Lowercarders in every segment of Heat two weeks running. Hogan's overness went from 97 to 54! He was then fired.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I've been using that method for about a year. If you screw someone too many times they refuse to comeback, so be careful who you release and how often you release them.

Guest What?! Report post Posted June 28, 2002 What I don't like is when you're playing someone other than WWE and see that they fire Sean O'Haire, then try to pick him up only to see he's not there. I'm gonna give Shelton Benjamin the Goldberg push of doom just for kicks.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I fired Luger for going to rehab. He didnt want to come back.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 28, 2002 Ha... On my NWA Rick Steiner complained that Devon Storm was too stiff and could've injured him. friggin Rick Steiner calling others stiff...that's funny. Oh well i'm just using him to help build Devon up. Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I'm playing my first game right now. I use NWA-TNA because WWE was too crowded for my taste. I have two TV shows already, Nitro on tuesday and Friday Knockout on, well, fridays. I use Nitro (my main show) for heavyweights exclusively, the cruisers and the tag division only work Friday Knockout. Last Nitro got a 4.30 rating, it's highest to date. Knockout gets 2.80+ ratings which is good enough I guess. I just had my first PPV which got a 0.61 buyrate. Well, it's a start I guess. My Heavyweight champion is a heel Prototype, managed by Paul Heyman. He is currently receiving the lesnar push, and it's working. He's already 75 over and rising steadily. I'm now feuding him with a newly signed babyface New Jack. The matches will be shitty, but New Jack's pretty damn over. I'll put Proto over to build him up for an eventual feud against Goldberg, who is currently tearing the house down in hardcore matches against Masato Tanaka. My tag champs are Money for Nothing, the team of EZ Money and Devon Storm. They're doing pretty good and will now start a feud with my "Chosen Ones" stable consisting of Jarrett, Mike Awesome and Steven Richards. Awesome and Richards are the tag team, Jarrett is also feuding with Val Venis to build Venis up. My Cruiserweight champ is AJ Styles. He just won the title in a ****1/2 bout against Psichosis. Low-Ki will soon turn heel and then feud with Styles for the belt. Psichosis will feud with a returning Rey Mysterio Jr. (was out for 2 months after a sick bump in a ladder match) to rebuild Reys heat. I also want to push one of my favourite wrestlers, Kaz Hayashi, to main event heel status. I gave him Stacy Keibler (why did WWE release HER of all people?) as manager and he is getting over slowly but surely. I also stopped using angles for now, interviews really work much better. Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 28, 2002 Blast! I've been trying to get the game since it was released. Whenever I clicked the GET EWR!!!! link, I'd get a screen showing the Quicktime insignia. Well, yesterday, I deleted all my media players, and today I went and clicked the GET EWR!!!! link and it started downloading. At 100%, I get a window with this message: Cannot find the file "'C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\AIY5HF28\ewr[2].exe'" (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available. What does that mean? I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about computers, but I've been getting this alot recently. So, should I try saving it to a disk? Or something else? Also, I thought that DLL program you can get might help, but I got the same message. What libraries should be available?
Guest papacita Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I haven't played the game in a week or so, but when I do, angles work pretty well for me. Only thing I hate is when you try and do one and it doesn't come out the way you want (i.e., I had the Jericho and Angle attack HHH and Edge made the save, and when HHH and Edge went after HHH it said fans were confused why 2 faces would attack someone. How bout that shit?)
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 29, 2002 What does that mean? I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about computers, but I've been getting this alot recently. So, should I try saving it to a disk? Or something else? Alright. If you are dl'ing a program or something you want to keep for an extended period of time ALWAYS save to disk. If you have a PC save the file into "my documents". If you are downloading something you will only use once (a media type thing), you don't have to save to disk. You probably shouldn't have deleted all of your media players, so if they are still in your recycle bin click "Restore All", otherwise you'll have to dl them all over again. Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I deleted them all because they weren't working, and when I try to upgrade, I get the same message as what I said earlier. Thanks, though.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Now I'm trying to save it to a floppy disk, and when I reach 100%, I get a window saying, "Cannot copy file: File System error [1026]." My computer sucks.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 29, 2002 It won't save to a floppy disk. A floppy holds 1.44 MB, EWR is slightly larger. You have to save to your hard drive. So when you click "Save To Disk" save the file to "My Documents".
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Same message...I think I'll give up for now...unless you can tell me anything else, thanks for trying, Rob.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 29, 2002 That's the extent of my knowledge. When I have problems, I ask the guys in the Computer folder. They seem to know what they are doing.
Guest Insanityman Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Okay... I, like MattDotCom, only know limited things on the computer depending on the subject. Anyways, EWR is working fine, and next to it is the Guide... that doesn't work but I don't need it I guess. But next to it is a page with an internet icon is the Update, I don't have Winzip, how can I update it?

Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted June 30, 2002 Well, I managed to have some good success with an angle for once. Not sure how much success I had with it, but the match it was connected to had about 85% heat, so I might have done something right. It seems the trick might be to connect to something else. What I did here was have a match to open the show between Jason Sugarman and Chris Michaels. Anyway, Sugarman takes the match clean, then Seven(who he is feuding with.) runs in and beats the heck out of him. Later on in the show, Sugarman comes back out and challenges Seven to a match, and the segment receives 81% heat. Seven comes out, hypes the match right before it, and then they go off and have a tables match, which Sugarman wins, and the match received ****. The feud's heat went down slightly, but Sugarman's heat went up from 71 to 76, so I am guessing it may just have worked to put some more heat on the match and maybe on Sugarman. I am not quite sure about whether it absolutely works or not, but there may just be more to angles in this game. I hope so, since I enjoyed booking their segments. Guest cartman Report post Posted June 30, 2002 Well maybe MY recent experience will help some people a bit. It pays to sacrifice some "Over" in a feud for the face character. I have a feud going between Heel Big Show and Face Seven, and this feud went on for about 3 months(which is long but good for feuds). I had Big Show winning more in the feud in ever category except clean wins...When I finally ended the feud It was something around 28 wins for show and 12 for Seven, I ended it with a "Falls Count Anywhere" match with Seven winning cleanly finally. After the feud was over I look in my mailbox and what do I see? Seven: "That feud absolutely ROCKED..blah blah blah" Seven's over went from 81 to 92 as a result of the perfect blowoff and show didnt even drop.
Guest The Superstar Report post Posted June 30, 2002 I started a new WWE game, and I fired tons of people, including: All the women Wastes of space (The usual: Bossman, Bradshaw, Cole, Brawler, Albert, Nash, etc.) I deleted the Lightweight, European, Womens, Hardcore, and IC titles and created the TV Title. Had Kurt Angle win the World title on July 8, making Taker tap. He's going to feud with HHH up until Vengeance (and go over, duh!) I created Team Canada, featuring Jericho (feuding with La Roca), Test, and the tag Champs Christian & Storm. Added some new tag teams: New Eliminators (Saturn/Kanyon), New Blood (Orton/Kidman), Extreme Warriors (Awesome/Rhyno). RVD is TV Champion. Hurricane is CW Champion. I'm not using feuds because I'm afraid I'm going to kill a guy's heat. However, I'm still making rivalries. Eddy was busted for drugs, so I suspended him for 1 month. Heyman is managing Benoit, who's feuding with Austin. Booker T and Brock had a **** match on July 7 Heat, which ended up a No Contest as Undertaker interfered. The three will fight in a triple threat at Vengeance, which I hope will make Booker & Brock more over. Oh, and my rival is WDW. They're hiring all the people I fired, along with Bret, Vader, Sid, etc.) That's all.
Guest What?! Report post Posted July 1, 2002 I started a new WWE game and oh man injuries hit left and right. RVD was screwed since Brock got injured a week before Vengence. Molly Holly got injured which ruined her match with Trish. Steven Richards got injured... but I don't use him. Plus he's one of the people I renegotiated to 6 month contracts, so who cares. And Paul Heyman who I had managing John Cena got injured. How the hell does a manager get injured?!?!?! And then RVD got injured later on. Then Tazz got busted for drugs so I fired him. I wasn't using him anyways. Chris Nowinski was late so I suspended him for a year, lifted the suspension, but he got pissed that I suspended him in the first place so I fired him. HBK got into a fight, so I fired his ass too. On the upside I created a dancing tag team of La Parka and Rikishi who just won the belts. And they're over! I have Lance, Christian and Test being Team Canada with Lance being the leader and even beating Hogan, yet Christian is the most over out of all of them. Maybe I should make him the leader. Now my new projects are a heel tag team of Maven and Randy Orton with Stacy Keibler as manager and Eric Angle as a midcard heel with Dawn Marie managing. Hope they work. Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted July 1, 2002 I'm still using WCW. Good News: --WWE fired Heyman. Hired him to manage O'Haire & Palumbo --2 PPV's so far. Buy rates of 1.67 and 1.75 --public image of over 80% Bad news: --TNT and TBS dropped me 1 week before my 1st PPV. Guess I should have paid attention to their emails about risky content. Got a deal w/ Playboy channel, though, but only have 1 show per week New Talent --Erin Bray is getting over --John Boy Corbett has a 72 over rating. Putting him w/ heel Goldberg in a feud w/ Hogan --pushing Boogie Knights in the tag division Also fired Van Hammer (wasn't using, verbal contract, over = 24, salary = $124,000) right before the end of the month. He emailed me to say he'll never work for me again. ::gasp!:: Thought that was pretty funny. Mike Sanders is in rehab, though
