Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 Haven't seen Disturbia yet, but for some reason I'm glad it's doing well. Also don't mind seeing the Lohan movie eat it badly.
Longdogger_Pete 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 That is a huge opening for Shrek.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 Not really. Everyone was predicting a 150-200 million opening. And again, I ask. How is Disturbia doing so well? 6 weeks in the top 5 and $71 million? When did the kid from Even Stevens become a huge draw?
AmericanDragon 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 Not really. Everyone was predicting a 150-200 million opening. I'm pretty sure you just made that up.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 After double checking, I was thinking about POTC3. Nevermind.
Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 Good to see "28 Weeks Later" is still in the top five, even though it didn't make a shitload of money.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 Holy crap. $90 million + difference between #1 and #2.
Craig Th 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 Holy crap. $90 million + difference between #1 and #2. There was a $143 million gap between 1 and 2 when Spidey 3 opened.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2007 I can't help but think Shrek is destined for a hemmorage, all time level drop next week. Is there anybody, even little kids, who wants to see Shrek over POTC 3? I bet Shrek will make somewhere between what Spidey 3 made in its 2nd and 3rd weeks. About 40-45 million. Having a fellow blockbuster might prevent POTC 3 from breaking that Spidey 3 record of 151 million, but it'll do much better overall business.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Is there anybody, even little kids, who wants to see Shrek over POTC 3? Well technically I would rather see Shrek 3 over POTC 3, but I don't want to see either. I'll be forced to see one, so I'll choose Shrek.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 I prefer Dreamworks over Disney.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 The basic feeling I heard from those who saw Shrek 3 was very much like Spider-Man 3. It was alright but a disappointment to what they thought they were getting. Another thumbs in the middle to down film for the opening of Summer. That doesn't fill me with much hope now. Hope they are prepared for Shrek 4 cause it's coming.
