LaVar Arrington hurt in motorcycle crash

Former Redskins and Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington has been seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash in the Washington D.C. area, WTOP Radio is reporting.

 

WTOP has been told by Prince George's County Fire that Arrington is in serious condition after a crash near Route 50 and the Capital Beltway. Arrington has reportedly been taken to Prince George's Hospital Center.

 

Arrington was the second overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Redskins. After six seasons in Washington, Arrington played for the Giants in 2006. Arrington was a free agent after being cut by the Giants after suffering a season-ending foot injury.

Carl Poston said it was his understanding that Arrington suffered a broken bone in his arm, three broken bones in his leg, cuts and bruises. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. He is recovering at Prince George's Hospital Center.

Wow, it's like an annual thing, isn't it? Except people don't care about LaVar Arrington as much as Ben Roethlisberger.

Looking back at Arrington's stats, it looks like his 3 Pro Bowl years were his only good years. Add to that the issues he had at the end of his Redskins' days and these recent injury issues and you might be inclined to say that his career has been somewhat disappointing to this point (by #2 pick overall standards anyways). He'll be 29 tomorrow so we'll see how the rest of his career turns out. This accident doesn't help matters.
