Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 18, 2002 I'm very pissed off right now. What the hell did they have Al Snow, Hardcore Holly and Ivory standing in a Tough Enough ring shilling Stacker 2 for? Why the hell would they do that? They chastised the guy on Tough Enough who took the fat burners before his workout, and their sitting in a Tough Enough ring telling someone that they need to use Stacker 2 before they head into the ring? What the hell? BTW, I hope the Vince McMahon has used his golden calf for the last time. I'm already sick of the Rock and he's been back for 10 seconds. I understand that they were panicking, but I really don't feel like watching the Rock act like a dickhead, do the same tired schtick and be a face at the same time. The Rock looks rather small by the way. I'm going to sit hear and hope tha this segment goes somewhere other than where I think it will.
Guest Big Poppa Popick Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Rock is a motivational speaker? Rock at KoTR? what the hell?
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Say what you will about the Rock, but he can still cut a goddamn good promo.

Guest Shadow Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Am I the only one who smells a Rock heel turn? It seems like just the kind of thing Vince would hot-shot on Sunday, especially since they didn't even tell us what Rock would be doing on Sunday. Just a thought. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Did we really need to have the Rock cut a damn sermon? What the fuck? That was pretty goddamned shitty. The Rock is back? I hope Vince didn't tell the Rock what to say during his sermon. I felt like I was watching someone correct their child in public or something. Who the hell needed to see the Rock come out to send a message to Austin and the wrestlers backstage? That was pretty crappy if you ask me. The Rock is back from filming a movie. Been there done that and will have to go there again. Fuck!
Guest Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Damn. King said it best. "People were looking for the Rattlesnake, but no one cares now! We've got The Rock!" (salutes Rock for his speech)

Been there done that and will have to go there again. Fuck! I find a problem with that too since he'll likely go back to Hollywood instead of staying around as WWE's top face, which will then beg the question of who will be WWE's top face that stays around WWE full-time since Austin's gone and Rock doesn't have a full-time schedule with WWE anymore. Guest Report post Posted June 18, 2002 *checks the name of the board* Am I at the Smarks board? Because I swear that I'm seeing people wanting GOLDBERG back. Seriously, the Rock was the best choice. I don't care if it was a disappointment to a lot of the so called smarks that want Goldberg back, but Rock just cut an awesome promo with a great meaning. It was like the whole Raw in the beginning was a plea to get Austin back... Vince's promo and thanks, the suspense from the airport, playng his music... but at the end Rock cuts this shoot like promo with the theme being if you don't love being a part of this company, get the F out. So basically it was like thanks Austin, there were some good times, but we'll move on. Fuck off. It was great. I couldn't have picked a better person than the Rock to make it sound so good, and get the crowd pumped. I'm surprised they let this Austin thing go with class, instead of having a midget or Gillberg come out. I'm thanking the heavens right now that it wasn't Goldberg. Guest Report post Posted June 18, 2002 I'm happy Rock is back. Austin would have been better but I'll settle with the Great One. The Rock said he would be back July 12 right? And he is rumored to be at Summerslam? July 12 is only 3 weeks away so I think the Rock will be around for those 3 weeks and, hopefully, stay until September. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted June 18, 2002 I'm glad The Rock is back. Maybe this time, he can do something except play second fiddle to, and WM job boy to Austin. Say what you will about the man, he's a professional. He's never balked about jobbing or working with someone, he gives his hardest every time he's out there, and even though he's no Benoit, he can still put on a damn good match. Hell, the fans sure looked excited when he came back. A lot of them were marking out. So did I. He's always entertaining, he dosen't 'hold people down', and he dosen't bitch backstage. Why all the hatred for the Rock? I don't get it. Then again, I don't understand a lot of things. Say "FUCK VINCE!" all you want. I for one am glad he didn't cave in. They don't need Austin as bad as Austin needs them. *edit* Can't believe I forgot this. Welcome back, Rock. -Shiro
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Goddamn. Is Rock one of the absolute best orators in wrestling history or what? That was just an incredible promo and the crowd reaction was totally off the page. What's more, the sentiment was dead on. Considering that I was convinced that "The Man" would either be Howard Finkel or Will Sasso, I was really pleasently surprised by Rock's appearance. When the show was over, I had a huge smile on my face. Then I came here. You fucking miserable bastards.
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted June 18, 2002 i was happy with tonight's raw, there was real emotion from both Vinnie Mac and the Rock, spirits of all the wrestlers seemed to be looking up, as Booker, Brock, and RVD knows that they have more of a chance to shine now, more professionalism amongst these 3 will lead to a stronger product in my opinion, and most importantly, we won't have to hear What!? any more
Guest big Dante Cruz Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Did it ever occur to anyone the reason they got so disappointed is because they hyped themselves into a frenzy? "OHMYGODOHMYGOD, ITSGONNABEGOLDBERG/STEINER/AUSTIN/SASSO/etc." I mean, hell, I'm glad the Rock is back. I used to rip on him all the time before I got my head outta my ass. No, I'm not saying you have your head up your ass. I didn't like the Rock b/c of the meatheads that were Rock fans that irritated the hell out of me. But the Rock is the best mic worker around. The Rock isn't that bad of a wrestler believe it or not. The Rock produces HUGE ASS REVENUE, believe it or not and yes, he will help ratings, provided he's on the show. Damn, people, lighten up. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted June 18, 2002 YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS! YESYESYESYES! WHOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOO! -- An RVD/X-Pac match that was actually good. -- As good a sendoff as we'll have for Austin. -- Eddie getting really great cheap heat with the music. I, like everyone else, was completely fooled. -- Eddie G vs Flair! -- Heyman schmoozing up to the NWO and Hebner was golden. -- BookerDust vs NWO and Brock Lobster are all building really nicely. -- And The Rock's promo was one of the best damn promos I've seen in a long while, maybe ever. I don't care if it was just a motivational speech, it worked damn well. I only have three complaints: Molly's ass is still a storyline, and Matt was forced to watch his brother get slapped around. If Matt was forced to watch it, Jeff needed to bleed. And X-Pac said "G Money". But still, this was an awesome freakin' show.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Rock is the only man under contract that wouldn't have gotten booed. I think even Steiner might have been a letdown. I was thinking Goldberg too (especially when Vince called him "the man") I'm glad it wasn't though. The only other person who wouldn't have been a letdown would've been Bret Hart. If Bret would've come down and beat the crap out of McMahon it would've been huge.

Guest Report post Posted June 18, 2002 all I can say is THANK GAWD FOR THE ROCK!!!!! I must say I wasnt all that impressed with RAW until the Rock returned. The promo was unbelievable. I loved every minute of it and I definetly smell what the rock is cookin. Now if only the Rock WILL STAY! I dont know about you but I can sure say when I heard the rock's music, I marked out. Not nearly as much as when HBK returned earlier this month but hey it was still a great surprise. Nice to see the WWE is trying to pull off surprises like they use too. KOTR is starting to slightly look up now. Flair/Eddie G will be good, and the tournament actually looks so far half way interesting, the rock being there adds to what will he do suspense. Did you hear HBK on commentary? That was frickin hilarious and almost made me forget there was a match goin on.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Anyone hear the collective groan from the crowd when Lesnar set Booker up for the F5? And the total non reaction he got when he won? The fans weren't in awe, they were saying "this guy hasn't exactly won us over, we want BOOKER DAMMIT!"
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 18, 2002 I nominate Chris Benoit's HUH to replace Steve Austin's WHAT as the new Crowd chant. PLEASE, if you go to a show and hes there, say HUH instead of WHAT.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted June 18, 2002 nyone hear the collective groan from the crowd when Lesnar set Booker up for the F5? And the total non reaction he got when he won? The fans weren't in awe, they were saying "this guy hasn't exactly won us over, we want BOOKER DAMMIT!" Yea, I did. When the NWO then Goldust came out, I actually couldn't tell who would win. I shoulda known. I was on the edge of my seat after the F5 going "KICK OUT! KICK OUT!", but alas...
Guest franchise632 Report post Posted June 18, 2002 NwO is the current BIG THING??? When did that happen?? I love HBK but c'mon. And as far a Rock goes according to Meltzer: "Rock's role at King of the Ring at this point is planned to be awarding the trophy to the winner, and likely doing an angle after that" "After Raw went off the air, they did a Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman confrontation with Rock which lasted about 15 minutes after the show went off the air. It was the typical WWE pattern, where Rock gave Lesnar a rock bottom. Later, Heyman and Lesnar came out and Rock gave Heyman the people's elbow." credit wrestlingobserver.com I would like to add to the Welcome Back Rock side of things, I hope he kicks his shoes off and stays awhile. Guest Report post Posted June 18, 2002 They really need to be careful with this Brock Lesnar push. It's gonna bite them on the ass if they overdo it...kinda like how they overdid it with the Rock back in 96-97. Speaking of which: ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY!
