Yeah... you'd think after all these years something would have come out on Sosa.

A small unsubstantiated rumor. Something.

But there hasn't been. As the years go on, can people just keep blindly assuming?

And it looks like he shrunk!

THERE is your damn proof!

The point on Sosa is that we have an entire book written on Barry Bonds, and something else substantial on McGwire's usage. There is no connection anywhere with Sosa. No pharmacy supplying him drugs. No ex-teammates coming out. He likely used steroids, as a large percentage of athletes in this generation have done. But if you're going to jump on Sosa or any player with superior accomplishments, you might as well quit watching professional sports because this is going to be the law of the land for the foreseeable future.

Also, it's ridiculous to present as "proof" pictures of players when they were 20-21 years old. People grow and fill out.

Milwaukee hit 6 homeruns today, 3 consecutive to start the game, to crush the Reds and win an important road series finally. They'e alone again in first place in spite of Cnnsi labeling them dead on Friday (while tied for first). That article dumbess was topped only by Dr Z's 'Brett Favre is not a first ballot HOFer' piece. I mean, yeah, the Brewers might not make the playoffs in the end but to say its over while they are in first place for no other reason than the other two teams being more popular is really sad.

Okay, then why was he asked to go in front of Congress?

Why did he refuse to pee in Rick Reilly's cup after saying he'd be first in line for drug testing?

Why did he go from a fun loving, 30/30 guy to a slow, moody jerk of a slugger?

Why did he all of a sudden grow and then shrink just as suddenly?

I don't have access to media guides or MLB guides but I'd bet there was some non-legit weight gain/loss the way there was with Bonds, that is NOT something that normally happens with the aging process.

You are confusing "connection" with reasons for suspicion.

There is no connection between Sammy Sosa and steroid distribution.

Other than those that have already tested positive or been concretely linked to something like BALCO, we don't KNOW for a FACT who took what. I believe a large number of players have doped, but we don't know jack shit. I thought it was incredibly retarded last year when people in the media were saying they hoped Ryan Howard would hit 62 homeruns so we'd have a non-steroid record breaker. Like we know for a fact Howard hasn't used anything, and that Sosa had. Or that McGuire used anything banned by the league when he hit 70. etc. etc. And yes of course we know for a fact A-rod is clean, because...umm...line?

Because Rick Reilly is sportswriting's premier douchebag and he wouldn't deserve Sosa's piss if he were on fire.

Okay, then why was he asked to go in front of Congress?

Because Jose Conseco needed money so he wrote a book about steroids, and Sosa happens to be a famous slugger who hit a bunch of homeruns.

Hit a bunch of homeruns after a conspicuously massive weight gain. And there's his history of lying & cheating that doesn't help the Sosa cause any.

I think it's just a byproduct of the Cubs and Brewers being so terrible lately. They're both poised to take the Central if either one plays .500 ball. It's just that they've been so bad that they don't seem like playoff teams despite being right there in their terrible division.

He corked his bat. Where else did he cheat? And what did he lie about?

Leaving the stadium during a game. And, yeah, he just corked his bat, nothing wrong with that.

Cnnsi said the Brewers were finished, Cubs & Cards are doing just fine.

Sean Marshall wasn't very good either, you know.

Yeah, so let's replace him with someone we know is worse. That makes sense.

We didn't know that. Trachsel had a decent year with the Orioles heretofore. Marshall struggled to make it out of the fifth in his starts. Everything pointed to an experienced back-of-the-rotation guy giving us better starts than a Quadruple-A pitcher like Marshall would. It seemed like a good idea at the time, as far as #5 starters go, and everyone but the nsbb.com dopes whoo salivate over generic Cub prospects like Murton and Marshall figured it would pan out. And by the way, no great sacrifice was made in jettisoning hopeless minor-leaguers like Cherry and Moore.

While that is true, I thought the real reason was that Sammy couldn't do such a thing without the approval of the player's union
