Well, I just saw this movie last night and didn't really know what to expect. Heck, when we went to the theater, I couldn't even remember what the movie was called. I literally said to the ticket person "Two for the new Steve Carell movie".

 

If you like Steve Carell and like The Office, you'll probably like this. Yes, it's a romantic comedy, but some parts of it are really funny. I laughed out loud more than a handful of times during the film. Carell's character is similar in some ways to the one he plays on TV, without being so overtly stupid. I think everyone could probably identify a bit with the theme of loneliness to Carell's character Dan throughout the movie.

Going to see this later on. I'd imagine the disdain most here have for Dane Cook will prevent them from seeing this.

I didn't find Cook to be that annoying in the movie. He's more periphery to the plot than anything.

Having seen the trailer for this in front of every movie I see in theatres, I almost wanted to see it just to see what happens. But it looks so terrible

I honestly hadn't seen the trailers, but I thought the movie was pretty good. I'd recommend it.

I enjoyed it. It's not super funny or anything, but just a "nice" movie with some laughs.

 

On that note, when Steve's character rounded up his daughters to meet somewhere, I turned to one of my friends and said "conference room, 5 minutes". The people in the row below seemed to think that was really funny.

I was thinking "The Murderers of Love" would be a good band name.
