This week in the NBA

I suppose, but I think if you've got a comfortable lead at any point in the game (my idea of comfortable would probably be about 15 points), you should be content in just running off time and looking for good shots. That's just my opinion, though.

I wouldn't call 15 points that comfortable of a lead unless there are like 4 mins left. Especialy when playing against Gilbert Arenas. I feel that when you get a lead by playing your offense, you continue to play your offense.

You know when else it isn't a good lead? When you're playing the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, and the Lakers still have Kobe and Shaq. And at some point Shaq throws down an alley-oop.

Fuckers.

I'll say nothing below 15-20 is ever safe unless there's 4-6 minutes to go. It sounds about right, though we've all seen some crazy shit happen.

Yeah, I have no sympathy for those getting run up on unless it's below that 4 minute threshold, circumstances permitting. If you don't want it to happen, don't suck.

If you are taking threes early in the shot clock while up by over 20-30 late in the 4th with your starters still in, you are running up the score adn I support 80's fouls out there.

Otherwise, its all fair game.

As far as i'm concerned, the concept of 'running up the score' doesn't even exist until the last 6 minutes. Before those last 6 minutes, I am in support of ANY team building up their lead as much as possible. 3rd quarter, early 4th, build that lead, build it up.

Yeah, I probably overreacted last night. It just seems like common sense when you've got the ball and the lead to try to kill time and get out of there. It didn't even strike me as odd until I saw Najera of all people put a 3 up, then watched them kick 3 or 4 offensive boards right back out for more threes. And since this *is* a team that's been accused of running up the score before, I guess the conspiracy theorist in me just took over.

I'm waiting for the wheels to fall off of this Celtics thing. If the Sox, Pats, Celtics, and to a lesser extent Eagles all won some kind of championship this year then the city would destory itself in celebration. The duckboats would have to be retired too from overuse.

I thought it was gonna be a looong season after the Blazers lost their first 3 games. Then they had to go out and win 3 straight against some pretty good teams. All three were at home, but they won pretty convincingly. I was worried when they traded Zach Randolph because of the gaping hole it left in scoring but Martell has stepped up pretty big. Defensively they've been a surprise too, holding Dirk to 11.

It's been brought up locally that Najera has been working on his shooting, so he has a green light from Karl to take the shot if he wants.

I agree. Even with Oden out for the year, I didn't think that they would be as bad as the 0-3 start made them look. Martell was awful tonight, though. I know this because I got fucked on my fantasy team because of him.

Of course, no matter how they end up, it's only going to make people wonder how much better they could've been with Oden. It'd be nice if he could make a quick recovery and show up for the last games of the season (which is when I'll probably have money to go see some games).
