Led Zeppelin played tonight

Recommended Posts

I hate to be a sour puss but I really doubt they're going to do a full tour. At least not in the next year or so. Plant is already lining up tour dates with Allison Krauss to promote the album they just released together.

Absolutely horrible to have exhumed this band.

Why? Is it just because it ruins the whole mystique of the band disappearing after Bonham's death (because LiveAid already did that) or something else?

A Zep reunion tour would be the greatest thing ever. I don't care how much tickets would be. I'd get a second mortgage if I had to.

Shameless money grab. They have nothing left to add. It offends my sensibilities even more than the failure of the Rolling Stones to just die already, because at least we're used to the Stones never going away, and unlike the Stones, I actually like Led Zeppelin, so this enfeebled revival upsets me.

Money grab? I thought they were donating all the money to charity?

In regards to the Stones, they may be old out of touch rockers, but they put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen. It was every penny of $100+ I spent on the ticket.

Yeah and Zeppelin is one of the last bands you can accuse of exploiting their past.

I knew Something was up when XM launched XM LED channel devoted solely to them.

theres only so much I can take..I dont get the specific artist dedicated channels..Sirius was known for doing that to death and now XM is argh.

Haven't Page and Plant already been playing together for well over a decade at this point?

If so, with Bonham being dead, the only difference between that and this tour is just bringing JPJ back to the fold

Either way, this fails to entice me

i don't think there's much heart left in this music. watching 60 year olds play hop around trying to look as cool as the music they're playing is no different than watching a cover band. the 4 individuals who made this music all died in 1980. rip. i don't know that silver haired guitarist. did ted danson grow out his hair?

Boy, how obvious is it that John Paul Jones did the least amount of hard living? He looks about ten years younger, standing next to the future stars of menwholooklikeoldlesbians.com over there. I bet he could still oversee some cool progressive soundtrack music, stuff along those lines. None of them should be masquerading as Led Zeppelin at this point in time, though.

How many RS articles on "how we lost the war on drugs" are there? I swear I've read that before.

It took me about ten seconds of staring at that picture to figure out which one was Page.

EDIT: On a slightly related note, I read an issue of regional indie rock magazine Stomp and Stammer for the first time today, and it's alarmingly conservative. There's one amusing bit where they absolutely tore Randy Newman apart, though.

For what. I love Randy Newman.

Goddamn, you just cannot help but snarking all over this.

Zeppelin never attempted to replicate studio effects live.

As soon as someone gets a groupie to fuck a live shark, I'm on board with this. I like Led Zeppelin, but I have no sense of propriety with them. The idea of these guys, in their mid 60s, playing "The Lemon Song" on a Thursday night in Dayton, Ohio doesn't particularly bother me.

I think the shark was dead.

Led Zeppelin are my absolute favourite band and I hope they do a live tour, but the chances really do seem to be rather slim.

Two of my friends went to this I should mention, one bought a ticket, the other simply knows a tour manager.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing them A) to run the table of big reunions this year B) I love the music and C) as a way to honor my dad, whose favorite band was Zep (he died in '85).

How does it honor your dad for the fragile-fingered taut-faced living ghost of Jimmy Page to prance around on stage 32 years after his last great album? I love Led Zeppelin, but I don't mind having never been able to see them live.

I hope they tour solely for Jason Bonham's sake. Imagine having to go back to touring state fairs and rib cookoffs with Foreigner after playing one of the biggest concerts ever. Poor guy.
