Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Still my favorite album from 2002. I wish Pharell had died after recording it.
Henry Spencer Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Great album. Although the Neptunes can still yield a good backing track every now and then, by and large their glory days are behind them, so I agree. Tape You and Brain are probably the highlights. I love the synth line that comprises the chorus of the former song.
Henry Spencer Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 That being said, I can think of at least five 2002 albums that I like better than In Search Of.
King Kamala Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 One of maybe five hip hop albums I own. Really good stuff. I never even bothered checking out their second album and from what I've gathered, I'm not missing much. I read about six months back that they were reuniting (after a long absence of two years!). I guess it's Pharrell's last ditch effort to remain relevent.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Pharrell did a good job with Clipse' Hell Hath No Fury, which was only a little over a year ago, so I'd say he was still relevant at the time you heard that news. I'm guessing the thread starter didn't like it though. This album was pretty good, but album of the year is pushing it for me. I didn't like it as much as Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or Turn On The Bright Lights.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 One of maybe five hip hop albums I own. N.E.R.D. is hip hop?
King Kamala Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 One of maybe five hip hop albums I own. N.E.R.D. is hip hop? Close enough for a white, classic rock loving dork like me.
JaMarcus Russell's #1 Caucasian Fan Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 This album didn't really age well for me. I thought this was the greatest album when I was 16. Still the best NERD album ever.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 Still my favorite album from 2002. I wish Pharell had died after recording it. Lord Willin' >>>>>>>>>> In Search Of
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 2, 2008 Author Report Posted February 2, 2008 Oh, I was being glib. I'll argue that Pharell's done more harm than good in the years since, however.
