NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2008 When Raven returned to ECW and he does a run-in as Dreamer's tag partner and they win the tag titles.....it would have been a great angle to play out on a PPV....leaving the fans with a "WTF" look on their face while also marking out that Raven had returned. David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 I remember a WWE title match in, I think it was December 2003 on SmackDown, with Brock Lesnar defending the title against Chris Benoit that was just an amazing match. I thought Benoit was going to take it on several occasions, and then Lesnar put him in his new submission (Brock Lock, I think it was?) and made him pass out. It was not long before the Royal Rumble that Benoit won, and I was hoping that when he won it, we'd see Benoit/Lesnar II at WM XX, but we all know what happened the night after the Rumble. Again, don't know if the match *was* as good as I remember, but I remember it being really damn good at the time.

It was a really good match, and it would have headlined a SmackDown-only PPV had there been one between the Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. Obviously, the only place to showcase the match (as they were trying not to deviate from the hard split that happened earlier in the year) was on SmackDown. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 I never much cared about seeing a Brock/Benoit PPV match. Maybe it's because I have no idea who would have carried such a feud on the mic, unless maybe Heyman was involved. Thing is, Eddie was more over than Benoit on SD and HHH wanted a fresh opponent on Raw, so Benoit won the Rumble and jumped to Raw.
Guest Nitro 24/7 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 First off NoCalMike...dude you look exactly like Bubba Ray Dudley. Second Im all for big matches being on free tv, because I love things that are free and I dont purchases $40 ppvs, and I also think its cool to have big matches or huge surprised on free tv because it makes those shows that much better and honestly sometimes the matches that are over hyped for this "SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY" dont always produce like they should and can be dissapointing at times. Anyhow I will roll with the flow and throw some matches out there and some were already named. Goldberg vs HBK from Raw Brock vs Angle Iron Man from Smackdown Benoit vs HHH Iron Man from Raw Benoit vs HBK from Raw Hogan vs Hart from Nitro Nash vs Flair from Nitro Rock vs Flair from Raw Rock/Austin vs Hogan/Hall/Nash from Raw Hogan/Bret vs Sting/Warrior from Nitro theres really tons of matches to list i will add more if I think of them or force my lazy self to do some research. I'm pretty sure ------ / Lesnar was intended to be the main event as soon as he got the push for the gold since they were doing the "authority figure (Heyman in this case) to holds talent down so he can overcome the odds" angle. However, Goldberg was around and HHH wanted his 5 star match so all that went out the window. Although, Guerrero winning the Rumble and facing HHH or HHH / HBK at WM XX would've been really interesting.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 Ah, but Eddie was still more over than Benoit on SD and that show has a bigger Latino demo than Raw, so Eddie going to Raw made no sense. Also, Benoit flat out lost to Lesnar clean on free TV...are we supposed to now buy him as a title threat at WM?

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 How? Brock/Benoit is a mediocre drawing match to start and we would have seen it on free TV with a clean finish to boot. I could maybe see it if Heyman had screwed Benoit in some massive fashion.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 Lesnar smashed up Benoit's leg with a chair to set up Benoit passing out. How is that a clean finish? Not only that, Benoit got a visionary tap out on Lesnar and kicked out of the F5. There was plenty of reason to build to a rematch between the two with the story told in the first match. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Let's not forget that Benoit had been built up as such since returning in '02 that he could challenge anybody, and by late '03 the fans perpetually viewed him as a threat to any and all titleholders. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 ------ made Lesnar tap out at SSeries, won a battle royale later on the SD show, defeated Cena to get the title shot at Brock, to get screwed out of it (3 matches in 1 night), Heyman says ------ can't get another shot at the title (forgot the reason why, somebody help me out here) unless he wins Rumble and made him number one to rub it in, ------ wins, so the story was right there to progress and ------ jumped to RAW the night after for some fucking dumb reason making him look like a complete pussy. Other mentions: Eddie Guerrero Vs. The Big Show - This could've been a great main event for Judgment Day 2004. Show could've challenged for the title (ala Bulldog's build-up in 95 against Hart: I beat you for the IC title (US in this case) so I can beat you for the world title!). Guerrero could've been the underdog champion and get revenge on Show in L.A., but it wasted on SD and the title wasn't even up for grabs. Batista Vs. Christian - on a RAW in April I believe. It was a fun match that could've been used for Backlash. Benjamin Vs. Michaels - PPV worthy match, easily. Batista Vs. Edge - A really good match between the two. They could've used for Vengeance since they spent a good while building up the Gold Rush tournament.
