DMann2003 Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Just thought I'd make a thread for the 'John Adams' mini-series on HBO playing right now. Parts 1 & 2 tonight. Feel free to discuss if you are watching.
milliondollarchamp Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 It looks great and the acting is top-notch but it just seemed to draaaaaag. There just seemed to be no "fire" in the production. Maybe I have to re-watch but it came across (to me) as a very dry period piece. I guess I'm still used to my "Wire" fix on Sunday nights but this seemed very eh.
DMann2003 Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 Did no one watch this? I thought it was very good, I think this is a period that's never shown enough in film, and when it is it's usually stuffy.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 I dont get HBO but I wanted to see it, though not worth paying for HBO for.
milliondollarchamp Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 yea its worth a download I'm quite liking David Morse's understated performance and I thought Giamatti and Tom Wilkinson were especially fun to watch.
Jaxxson Mayhem Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 I watched part of the 2nd part. It was actually really good. It helps that I love this country so much so seeing them separate from England and vote on it was awesome.
imajackoff? Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Nothing about it is bad, but the first two hours seemed like a by the numbers history lesson. Im a huge fan of Giamatti, so I'll stick with it
