Kinetic 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2008 So how do Georgia players celebrate their preseason #1 ranking? By getting into a bar room slobberknocker, that's how. True story: Against my better judgement, I one night ended up in the bar where all of this took place. After about 30 seconds of hearing two incredibly shrill sorority girls loudly yelling "Play Soulja Boy!!! Wooo!! Omigod, Soulja Boy!!!" I made a beeline for the door. It was time to go home. Kinetic 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2008 ESPN's "College Gameday" is a running "coolest helmet" tournament in the classic "TSM Poster Tournament" format. Allow me to put my $0.02 in. Personally, I've always been partial to helmets with stickers on them. I have always believed--and those of you who have been reading my work since I was a pup writing wrestling articles in Bumfuck, Texas can attest to this--that stickers are pretty. They just are. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2008 FWIW, I didn't know about Chris Baker (starting DT) being kicked off the team at Penn State when I did my preseason rankings. With that extra info, I'd like to change the bottom of my Top Ten to: 8. Auburn 9. West Virginia 10. LSU After that, it would probably go South Florida, Tennessee, Clemson, Penn State, Texas in that order.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 A huge loss on offense for Florida today as it was announced that starting tight end Cornelius Ingram will be out for the season after he tore his ACL in 7 on 7 drills. This is truly a devastating loss for the Gators on offense. Ingram was a very dynamic tight end who created tons of mismatches in the secondary and opened up the field for guys like Harvin. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3526410 I guess Mustain's transfer turned out to be a fortunate deal, or maybe Mustain stabbed him in the leg.

I'm probably in the vast minority here, but I really like Notre Dame. I even went to the Sugar Bowl in a sea of LSU fans wearing Notre Dame gear. That said, after last year, they deserve no Top 25 votes until they show something in the first 5-6 games. And by something, I mean total dominance against these foes. And yes, they have to beat Michigan AND Michigan state in this stretch. And Purdue is not a team of slouches either. So, yeah, end mini rant. I also like that Mississippi state got a few votes. They may not deserve it, but I like Sylvester Croom so yay for them. And ouch on Hawaii.
MFer 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2008 So Michigan's not ranked in the AP preseason top 25 for the first time in 22 years. I'm not really surprised, although Michigan's one of those schools that tends to get overranked sometimes. I'm not complaining though; UM lost every significant offensive player from last year, they're installing a completely different offense (without much personnel that actually fit the system), and their D struggled at times last season. I still think they'll find a way finish in the top 3-4 of the Big Ten and go to a decent bowl game though.
Bored 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2008 It's a couple of days old but CBS extended it's contract with the SEC through 2023. Starting next year they will now have first choice for every week of the season for SEC games, where the deal that's expiring this year allowed ESPN to have three weeks out of the year where they get first choice. That's what ESPN gets for replacing Ron Franklin with Mike "What's with Brittney?" Patrick for their primetime SEC telecasts.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2008 Great news. Personally, I love CBS' coverage of the SEC, and although I'd rather have Todd Blackledge back, their coverage is fantastic.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2008 I don't think my team is going to win the national title or anything this year (i do think we'll go back to the Fiesta Bowl and finally get over that hump though, hopefully......maybe Stoops is the new Lloyd Carr) but I sure hope we get another crack at Mizzou. We've dragged those little bastards around the field for the past two years and they're still hyped to the moon.

Kinetic 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2008 Should Tebow win a second Heisman this year, I feel that it would be appropriate--nay, necessary--for me to tattoo some reminder of the feat on my person. What tattoo and where? Perhaps Urban Warfare and I could get a split heart tattoo, one spelling "Te" and the other "Bow." What says you?
