The 2008 NFL Draft Thread.

"holding the Mayo."

I hate the puns. I hate them.

And I don't have NFL Network.

That's okay. I don't have ESPN. Mike Mayock's been pretty good with his predictions thus far.

Poor DeAngelo Williams. I like Stewart, but Williams can't catch a break.

The way this is going one of those OTs might actually slip to 19 so there is no threat of the Eagles reaching for Cherilus, which would be awesome.

Splitting time could allow Williams to be a servicable running back into his 30s. I don't really feel bad for him.

So with Flacco going to Balt, that leaves Mendenhall on the board.

Westbrook + Mendenhall would be freaking awesome, won't happen (probably shouldn't happen), but that would be sick.

I can't take this again this year trading out of the first round. Might not be a bad deal, depending on the return, but christ my heart can't take it.

What the hell did the Eagles get? Argh! They should've grabbed Thomas. Then again, maybe they think some of the tall receivers are kind of the same? They can wait and take Thomas if he falls, Malcom Kelly or Limas Sweed in the second round and feel just fine about it.

Lions reached a little for Cherilus but hey, at least it fills a need. *shrugs*

I was happy when the Lions traded down, though I can't say I'm too enthused by this pick. I would like to give the Lions the benefit of the doubt, but this is the Lions we're talking about here. Well, at least it wasn't another wide receiver, I guess.

Hey, Chris Johnson's a Tennessee Titan now.

I had classes with this guy. (I go to ECU) And all I can say....is it's a good thing he's this good at football. Not the sharpest guy I've ever met. But pretty cool I can say I know someone in the NFL, I suppose.

I think that's said about a lot of NFL players.

I hope Mark Bradley is saving the money he's making with the Bears, he's dumb as a rock.

Hey all, I've been out most of the day and had to be somewhere at 1pm so I missed the first couple hours of the draft. Looks like a whole lot of trading is going on, though. I went ahead and updated the draft so far in the first post, but here it is again for anyone who's missed it.

3 Atlanta Falcons - QB Matt Ryan, Boston College

4 Oakland Raiders - RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas

5 Kansas City Chiefs - DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU

6 New York Jets - DE Vernon Gholston, Ohio State

7 New Orleans Saints (from New England Patriots (From 49ers)) - DT Sedrick Ellis, USC

8 Jacksonville Jaguars (from Baltimore Ravens) - DE Derrick Harvey, Florida

9 Cincinnati Bengals - LB Keith Rivers, USC

10 New England Patriots (from New Orleans Saints) - OLB Jerod Mayo, Tennessee

11 Buffalo Bills - CB Leodis McKelvin, Troy

12 Denver Broncos - OT Ryan Clady, Boise State

13 Carolina Panthers - RB Jonathan Stewart, Oregon

14 Chicago Bears - OT Chris Williams, Vanderbilt

15 Kansas City Chiefs (from Detroit Lions) - OG Branden Albert, Virginia

16 Arizona Cardinals - CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee State

17 Detroit Lions (from Minnesota Vikings through KC Chiefs) - OT Gosder Cherilus, Boston College

18 Baltimore Ravens (from Houston Texans) - QB Joe Flacco, Delaware

19 Carolina Panthers (from Philadelphia Eagles) - OT Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh

20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CB Aqib Talib, Kansas

22 Dallas Cowboys (From Browns) - RB Felix Jones, Arkansas

23 Pittsburgh Steelers - RB Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois

24 Tennessee Titans - RB Chris Johnson, ECU

Oops, looks like a couple trades and picks were made while I was updating that.

Seattle traded their pick to Dallas and selected CB Mike Jenkins, South Florida, and the Jags traded their pick to Houston.

OT Duane Brown from Virginia Tech was taken by Houston.

Nice asshole move by the Cowboys to trade up and take Mike Jenkins, BTW. This should make the Packers' pick at #30 pretty interesting; all the really good, top prospects at DB were taken -- DRC, Aqib Talib, and now Jenkins -- so it seems that taking a DB is not the best choice there. I would probably go for any sort of help in the trenches at this point. Whether it's the front defensive seven (particularly at OLB or DE) or getting a good guard or tackle to strengthen the o-line.

Packers traded out of the first round, gave the 30th pick to the Jets. Makes sense.

What's worse: watching the NFL draft or watching golf?

There was a hockey game on, but apparently its not American enough.

Edit: Fucking Shithawks. Why a DE? Seriously, that O-Line needs some fixing.

And for the third straight year the NFL Network goes the ESPN route and decides to ignore the 2nd round but at least they did show every 1st round pick which from reading the thread ESPN couldn't even manage.
