Okay, a combination of having a bad back and having time off work, & running out of matches for the Desert Island Match Draft thread.. I've been watching my tagged-classics DVDs.

Now, a few things, the one that inspired this thread.

If they wanted to transition the WWF Championship from Hart to Hogan, why not go straight with Hogan/Hart, why end it the way they did? If they wanted a happy ending for Mania, have Hart beat Yokozuna, if they wanted Hogan to win the title, have Hogan beat Hart.

Also.. how out of place does Backlund look in the ring at this point in history?

Good little match he had with Razor though.

"He beat the wrestler with wrestling"

Hogan/Hart was the long term plan... hot shotting it would've been throwing $$$ away

Hogan's comeback after a year off was going to draw regardless and didn't need to be a (at the time ) minor dream match w/ Bret

Bret didn't have the credibility to be competitive with Hogan at that point.

Plus Brutus was coming back and I loved the storyline at the time that converted Jimmy Hart and made us all fear for Brutus' well being

Oh, i'm not saying the Hogan/Brutus/Money Inc. match didn't work, it did, greatly.. but saying what you have above, if Hart wasn't ready to beat Hogan, why not have Hart beat Yokozuna to get him ready for Hogan?

I'm sure Hogan had already fallen into his "my opponents need to be big to make me beating them look good" phase. Hogan was pissed in 2005 when the WWE had him feud with Diavari (he wanted a bigger partner for Hassan)

Plus Yoko was the unbeatable monster heel at that point so beating him made Hogan's ego happy
